The A120 near Great Dunmow (after completion). What was a field is now the dual carriageway A120. The tree (left of the picture) has survived.

Re: Roads before and after construction
What's your method for getting the exact same view when you return months or years later? You seem to do a very good job of finding the exact same vantage point each time and it's very impressive!

Re: Roads before and after construction
When I take the before pictures I make a note of the location for when I return 3 or 4 years later, also I know some of the footpaths so this makes it easier to remember. The way that I get the before and after pictures almost the same is by taking the before photos with me when I return to take the after pictures, there are often some features (trees or a farm) that have not changed even though a road has been built. I'm glad you like the pictures, I still have a few more to add in the next few weeks.

Re: Roads before and after construction
Thank you for your great before and after shots, roadphotos! I’ve really enjoyed reading though this thread today.
What I would love to know is how do you get them just the right size to be accepted here on SABRE - as nearly all the images that I try to post up, even ones I have re-sized to be much smaller, are deemed as “too big” for the site.
Please do keep these before and after photos coming!

Re: Roads before and after construction
The pictures wouldn't upload to SABRE from my mobile phone either so I had to reduce them by using the photo and picture resize app. It isn't the actual size of the picture that has to be altered it's the amount of pixel's. Once I had the Photo and Picture Resizer app then I used it to reduce the amount of pixel's (to 500) so that they would go on to SABRE (you lose a bit of quality but they are still ok).
Re: Roads before and after construction
When I took before and after photos I took a printout of the before picture with me so I can match the view when taking the after picture. This worked when I had the same camera. In 2004 I bought my first DSLR which had a 3:2 aspect ratio instead of 4:3 which made things awkward. Here's one I did using the same camera for both photos which I feel is pretty spot on for positioning.roadphotos wrote: ↑Sat Jan 08, 2022 18:55 When I take the before pictures I make a note of the location for when I return 3 or 4 years later, also I know some of the footpaths so this makes it easier to remember. Re: Roads before and after construction
Although I'm a roads fan I do prefer the before photos you posted. Such a shame the peace and tranquillity of a farmer's' field has now been destroyed. Your last photo in particular is lush and green in the before view and brown and parched in the later view, presumably after a long dry spell.
