The B1013 (before and after construction). The first picture shows a field near Rochford, Essex, the second picture shows how what was a field is now part of the B1013 Rochford to A127 Link Road.

Do an album. I find Shutterfly quite good, except that they don't respond to suggestions, due to the usual automation nonsense. Then again, that applies to other photo hosting sites that I've tried.
Example below, the top one.

The A13 near Basildon (before and after construction), Essex. The first picture is looking towards One Tree Hill (near Basildon), the field is the future A13. The second picture shows the same view after the A13 has been completed.

Re: Roads before and after construction
First picture probably late 1994/early 1995, the second one after October 1996. This is one of those 'I did that' moments, with a little help from my friends, of course. I think it was the most expensive roads (per km) built by Hertfordshire up to that time because of the massively expensive railway bridge and extensive retaining walls and treatment to a landfill site. I suspect the Bladock bypass would have given it a run for its money, although the tunnel on that only covers a small proportion of that route.roadphotos wrote: ↑Thu Jan 06, 2022 11:21 The A121 Cheshunt Link Road (before and after construction), Hertfordshire. Re: Roads before and after construction
I know the Takeley area very well, having worked on the construction of Stansted Airport, so I remember the A120 area when it was fields. I was there yesterday as my mother in law now lives in Takeley. (I also made my first (and second) trip on the Little Hadham bypass yesterday.Truvelo wrote: ↑Sat Jan 08, 2022 20:02 Although I'm a roads fan I do prefer the before photos you posted. Such a shame the peace and tranquillity of a farmer's' field has now been destroyed. Your last photo in particular is lush and green in the before view and brown and parched in the later view, presumably after a long dry spell.
Some old Stansted pictures here: https://www.alamy.com/stansted-airport- ... d0%26pl%3d
This is how it looked when I first moved to the area in late 1989.

Do you have any pictures of the A1184 Bishop's Stortford south western bypass? That would be 1997/8 ish.roadphotos wrote: ↑Sun Jan 09, 2022 21:26 The view at Thorley Lane after construction of the St Michael's Mead housing development, Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire

Re: Roads before and after construction
After looking through my collection of pictures I've found a few of the A1184 at Thorley on the outskirts of Bishop's Stortford. This picture shows a field (future A1184) and a temporary route for construction vehicles.
