Short B road in Worthing

Post by Truvelo »

On OS maps there is a short length of B road shown along Steyne Gardens leading from Brighton Road to Marine Parade. Is this a mapping error/copyright trap or is it really a very short length of dead end B road?
How would you like your grade separations, Sir?

That is a mistake.
Steyne Gardens is a C class road. C257 to be precise. After exploring the old maps on here, nothing suggested that this was ever an A or B classified road

It could be a copyright trap. The OS also shows part of the A5153 (between the A55 and B4545) at Holyhead as an unclassified minor road.

Interesting - I'd not noticed before but yes, it is coloured as a B road in the 1:50k 02/16 revision. The 1974 'A' revision just shows it in the same yellow as the other minor roads though.

Various sources seem to show all|some|none of the road between the A5 and the B4545 as the A5153 or unclassified. However which one is "correct"....

Local signage in the area appears to confirm that the road between the A55/A5153 junction and the B4545 is the A5153. Signs at the A55 junction all say that the road towards the B4545 is the A5153. All other signs show the same.
