Old Short A83 Alignment, or just a really confusing driveway?

Post by Unbreakify »

I was just wondering on google maps out of curiosity when i found this:
https://www.google.com/maps/@56.1952437 ... 312!8i6656
It appears to be a driveway at first, but the positioning of it is really odd.
When i looked on the other end, a junction came off, but the thing that stood out was this:
https://www.google.com/maps/@56.1969958 ... 312!8i6656
Im curious, is this abandoned or just odd placement?

My guess is an old section of the road, I would say the key was the abandoned section at the far end.

The answer is on SABRE Maps, using a combination of the 1945 One Inch layer and the MoT 1922-23 layer; with the "Map Fader" functionality.

Dunce question. How do I combine layers on the SABRE map fader? I can make the fader work between the 1945 One Inch layer and the present-day Open Street Map (which seems to be the default), but how do I fade between 1945 One Inch and MoT 1922-23?

I don't think it's possible to fade between two Sabre layers. It would be nice if that was possible.
How would you like your grade separations, Sir?

OK then - I misunderstood Steven!

It is theoretically possible, but it would need (as always!) development time to work on SABRE Maps, which is something that no-one seems particularly interested in doing unfortunately.

It shows very nicely if you pick the OS 6 inch maps.
