Re: Traffic lights for private properties
Would this one count?
If so, it is a strange one as it has got a Give Way marking on the road.

Shocked I missed this one on my doorstep
The exit to Gillingham Fire station is controlled by a red-amber-green control on the two signals located either side of the ramp but the main traffic is controlled by railway-crossing style signals and when the signals are in operation they alther the timings on the signals ether side to facilitate the fire appliance's exit

Wow. That's a mess. Good thing the two sets of lights are connected together.Ben302 wrote:Shocked I missed this one on my doorstep

Are you sure the fire station has red/amber/green? I think I read that they (should) have different colours but I forget which...

What, here?scynthius726 wrote:On the Crow Road in Glasgow there is a traffic light-controlled T-junction with a house driveway coming on to the corner of the T-junction. The house has its own set of traffic lights!
I watched the lights cycle round several phases and the house never got a green light. Can't see any cameras on these lights, so what triggers the green for the house? And is this a (relatively) common arrangement?

And there's one on the other side of the bridge as well!!kit wrote:There's this set on the reasonably busy A415 near Newbridge - the signal on the left only controls what I assume is a farm where it joins a S1 signal controlled part of the road.

There is a detection loop in the pavement just outside the driveway.

Massive thread bump...
I was thinking about these setups the other night (as you do) and remembered there's a couple in the Wigan area.
One here at Gathurst for the entrance to a cattery.
Here which goes to a small car park
One near St Helens:
A more recent addition in Rainford on the Rainford Junction side of the bridge for the entrance to a pub (you can just about see the edge of the signal head), and two on the Crank side of the bridge here for Rainford Junction station car park and here for the entrance to a farm shop and cafe.

Re: Traffic lights for private properties
At this intersection in Sydney, the house straight ahead in Streetview has its driveway inside the area controlled by the lights. There is a push button where the driveway crosses the grass, and this will turn all the lights red so that the driveway can be safely used.

There's this one, too, at the top of Boundary Road.Dave908 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 06, 2019 20:01 One near St Helens:

And this one a bit further along Boundary Road.

Regarding the one at the top of Boundary Road, I've been that way so many times over the past few years and never noticed it.traffic-light-man wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2019 13:35There's this one, too, at the top of Boundary Road.Dave908 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 06, 2019 20:01 One near St Helens:

Found another here at Buckshaw Village.

Re: Traffic lights for private properties
Interestingly, if you spin round, it appears that dwelling has a primary signal and a stop line as well!
Whilst reading back over the thread to note if I've posted the other ones that were local to me at the time (which I have!), I noted this one:
It appears although the first stage of crossing the ahead lane is uncontrolled, as the 'main' road at that point is not under signal control. It's only when you reach the centre refuge and have stopped at the stop line that you are you detected by the loop for that stage to activate. Strange layout though, non-the-less!andy_birkett wrote: ↑Mon Aug 09, 2010 18:05This one is right near my house, but I've never stopped for a nosey round either. Looking at Streetview, it seems that the drivers exiting the houses just give way initially to cross the first lane, then you can see a detector loop in the gap in the island, right in front of the stop line.jon wrote:One day I'll remember to stop and see how the lights are triggered, but there's a house link onto the A650/Rein Road junction at Tingley Bar, Morley, Leeds.

Re: Traffic lights for private properties
This block has its exit as part of the junction's traffic lights. Never seen anyone come out (but I'm sure they must do).
Also this in Christchurch - given the size of the entrance, they must be rather grateful for it (and there's another further down)

Re: Traffic lights for private properties
The Queen Mary pub in Poole has its exit as part of the junction traffic lights. There have been changes to the junction since the Street View images were taken but the pub still has its own signal.

Birmingham University. The cycle lane has now been completed, but the University south gate still has its signal. The gate is actually reversible flow, inbound in the morning, outbound in the afternoon, hence the hinged "No Entry" signs that flip to show an ahead arrow. The signals on the Bristol Road have NLT/NRT box signs that illuminate when needed.
