What is there legally to stop a car passing to the right of the man in the blue shirt ? As I witnessed this morning.
No 'No Entry' signage, no 'Keep Left' on the left hand bollard

I don’t think anyone can tell you the limit without looking at the signs. That’s what the signs are for!jervi wrote: ↑Mon Apr 01, 2019 22:05 Could anyone tell me the speed limit on this road?

And without signs it would automatically be 30 mph due to the presence of streetlights.Chris5156 wrote:I don’t think anyone can tell you the limit without looking at the signs. That’s what the signs are for!jervi wrote: ↑Mon Apr 01, 2019 22:05 Could anyone tell me the speed limit on this road?

Can't answer the specific question but as I often walk across that crossing I had a quick look around and spotted myself driving the other side of the bridge and my dad walking across the pedestrian crossing too!doebag wrote: ↑Thu Apr 04, 2019 14:17 Centre of Wisbech, by the Town Bridge

Re: Botched Roadsigns
I have to say the road layout is not one I have seen very often at all, specifically the middle right-turn lane which can be used to turn right past the small traffic island (LHS of course) and also for turning right on the other side of the bridge. The fact that the right-turn lane does not "end" when it reaches the far end of the junction might make it a bit unclear as to whether you can pass the traffic island to the right, assuming the markings on the road itself have been ignored.doebag wrote: ↑Thu Apr 04, 2019 14:17 Centre of Wisbech, by the Town Bridge

Re: Botched Roadsigns
Cork South Ring
On this side of the border it's completely the wrong design, and even if they had been to a British sign shop the sign shop should have said no!
20 km/h on the tunnel avoiding road must be one of the lowest speed limits on what appears to be a public road too.

I have websites about: motorway services | Fareham
Re: Botched Roadsigns
It's fortunate that the sign on the other side of the road is of the correct design and refers to km/h as usual, otherwise a driver who is familiar with driving in Britain but completely unfamiliar with driving in Ireland might falsely feel that it means 80mph rather than 80km/h.Johnathan404 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 06, 2019 20:39 Cork South Ring

Re: Botched Roadsigns
This is an oddity. I haven't the faintest idea why the name of the borough needs to be so prominent or why a yellow sign is used - there's a perfectly good way of signposting a weight restriction up ahead without relying on motorists knowing the name of a specific bridge or having the time to read the full legal name of the local authority that covers it.
Interestingly, the sign is actually within LB Camden, so perhaps it's either Camden's highways department keen to distance themselves from a weak bridge that isn't their fault, or Islington's highways department branding a sign they provided in someone else's patch!

The grey paint on the repeater has now washed off, meaning there's a 50 repeater immediately in front of a 40 sign.

A 50/50 chance of speed cameras? I don't like those odds
Re: Botched Roadsigns
The same is happening to the terminal NSL signs on the northbound A470 off M4 J32. Just shows how long it's been 'temporary' for.nowster wrote: ↑Sun Apr 07, 2019 22:36 Wilmslow - Handforth Bypass

Re: Botched Roadsigns
There's a beauty on the northbound A449 in Stafford at the moment. A portable variable message sign, set up with a speed radar so it flashes your speed at you. I went past at an indicated 30mph and it told me my speed was 28km/h.
I will try and get a photo on my way back home!
<edit>
Indicated 32mph this time!

So, legally, you can go straight on a straight arrow
On a right arrow, presumably you can legally u-turn but not turn right?

If you look at GSV, the original configuration was left and straight ahead.Andy33gmail wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2019 14:32 So, legally, you can go straight on a straight arrow

I reported it using fixmystreet.com and had a reply back from TfGM within 10 minutes.
Thanks, it has been reported as a fault and is with our signal maintenance company to rectify
Re: Botched Roadsigns
At least it is being rectified. A similar one happened to me when I reported a Keep RIGHT bollard on a normal single carriageway refuge island...nowster wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2019 15:12If you look at GSV, the original configuration was left and straight ahead.Andy33gmail wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2019 14:32 So, legally, you can go straight on a straight arrow

Anyone driving with due care and attention will see the Give Way lines, the island and the edge of carriageway lines beyond, indicating where they may turn right.
Patience is not a virtue - it's a concept invented by the dozy beggars who are unable to think quickly enough.

Though roads may not put a smile on everyone's face, there is one road that always will: the road to home.
