I've scrolled along the road and I think the loss of the 3" is the least of the problems with the signage!Octaviadriver wrote: ↑Thu Apr 14, 2022 10:41 When you go around the corner, the bridge loses 3".

Then when it gets to the low bridge, it gets the 3" back again.

Steeple Bumpstead. On the B1057 is surely not right
https://goo.gl/maps/TaD4Xfx4A9LD1aky7
The B1057 route is a right turn at the junction, so the deviation chevrons could be right except for the Give Way to the minor road from the left.
However go back where the camera car has come from and there is a warning sign showing the road goes to the right with a minor road joining from the left.
It confused me when I went through this morning, particularly as the painted road markings are in a bad condition.

A new set of standard have appeared which make the old ones look even worse and more pointless.

OK, in that case I stand corrected.Dougman wrote: ↑Thu Apr 14, 2022 09:44That's not what the sign means though, the sign indicates that the bridge is 300yds from the junction, not from the actual sign.ellandback wrote: ↑Wed Apr 13, 2022 13:43 Maybe, but it can't be 300 yards from the junction and also 300 yards from the signs further back on Elland Bridge. I haven't got my measuring tape out but the signs are a not insignificant number of yards apart from each other.

More upside down roundabout signs.Skipsy wrote: ↑Sun Oct 25, 2020 22:29 https://www.google.com/maps/@51.5772363 ... 384!8i8192
Upside down!
They are on private property in a leisure park. I reckon they are trying to compete with Moto as they also have the following assortment:
- Dual carriageway ahead signs when you are already on the dual carriageway
- 15 and 25 mph speed limits
- Ahead only when you can turn right
- Turn right ahead with plate for "service vehicle route" where you can go straight on
- Give ways where the road markings suggest otherwise
Worded pedestrian crossings with and without marked crossings - Posts which I don't think ever had signs but probably should have

It's gone now, but "skidding hazard" for 10 yards? Really? (Go back to 2008 if it's not there.)

Re: Botched Roadsigns
A Streetview stitching error - it actually says "60 yards". Which, given the the traffic light sign says "50 yards" presumably means "from here to the traffic lights". Though I can't see any reason why the last 60 yards of slip road should be any worse than the rest of it. If the intention is to warn drivers to brake early for the lights then it really should be further back!tom66 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 23, 2022 22:36 It's gone now, but "skidding hazard" for 10 yards? Really? Looks like they haven't replaced the other sign as the primary sign replaced a non-primary one.the cheesecake man wrote: ↑Mon Apr 25, 2022 13:39 So are the few yards of A57 between the M60 and M67 primary or non-primary?

Re: Botched Roadsigns
Another annoying thing is the use of "M'cr" when there is clearly enough room to fit "Manchester" on both that and the gantry. I assume they've done it to keep it consistent with the Airport signage.OliverH wrote: ↑Mon Apr 25, 2022 14:10Looks like they haven't replaced the other sign as the primary sign replaced a non-primary one.the cheesecake man wrote: ↑Mon Apr 25, 2022 13:39 So are the few yards of A57 between the M60 and M67 primary or non-primary?
Re: Botched Roadsigns
How does the driver of a big lorry deal with this? The implication is that they take the next exit, but the restriction starts at the signs, no?

Re: Botched Roadsigns
Another primary/non primary botch. The road to the left - A556 is primary so should be green.

Re: Botched Roadsigns
And if that's an exit from a roundabout, the signs pointing right shouldn't be there at all.
Re: Botched Roadsigns
It's a kind of roundabout/gyratory. I see lots of right hand flag signs at roundabout round here in the north west. Some i understand the need but others are just pointless.SouthWest Philip wrote: ↑Tue Apr 26, 2022 19:53And if that's an exit from a roundabout, the signs pointing right shouldn't be there at all.
Re: Botched Roadsigns
Also on the A556 at Tabley interchange (M6 Jct 19) is this new ish sign which certainly loss odd.

Re: Botched Roadsigns
A post in another thread about this pass either side bollard made me aware of what a mess has been made of the general signage in this area.
The dedicated busway here is now only being used one-way, so the no u-turn roundel has been replaced with an "except buses" one, but the green left arrow has been retained. Opposite these are missing an "only" plate.
At the next junction, These signals have blue roundels with no splitter island which isn't permitted. The same with the side approach.
This bus gate lacks signage, in fact the entire bus lane before it has none either. There's also these bizarre split box junction markings everywhere.
There are right turn arrow markings for this roundabout that was built sometime after 2014, where they should not be used.
You obviously aren't supposed to turn right here, but there are no signs prohibiting it. This markings here at this junction suggest there is also no right turns, but no signs to prohibit it.
Turn left arrow marking with no signs.

Re: Botched Roadsigns
Would a lorry over 44 tonnes be there without an escort or pre-approved route?
Re: Botched Roadsigns
What's with the yellow box in that junction -- it's split into two smaller boxes? As if they wanted to paint a white line through it? I've not seen that before.MotorwayGuy wrote: ↑Tue Apr 26, 2022 21:43 You obviously aren't supposed to turn right here, but there are no signs prohibiting it. Re: Botched Roadsigns
You get this a bit in Edinburgh around the tram route. It seems to align with where the lanes would be.tom66 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 28, 2022 09:03What's with the yellow box in that junction -- it's split into two smaller boxes? Re: Botched Roadsigns
Given the correct prescribed legend today is Manchester (C), and some signs do say this, I think they just blindly copied the old sign. The gantry they installed there is an absolute abomination that suggests junior level staff, or a complete clot who should be sent to direct traffic around an empty car park as punishment forever, did it.MotorwayGuy wrote: ↑Mon Apr 25, 2022 14:46Another annoying thing is the use of "M'cr" when there is clearly enough room to fit "Manchester" on both that and the gantry.
