Re: Botched Roadsigns
I'm feeling pedantic today so
M1 should be in brackets
Motorways 1/2 but of course only one motorway is half a mile away

Lovely bit of patching here. Except that the road isn't primary anymore...

Re: Botched Roadsigns
I suspect that's just temporary and there'll be new signs as part of the reconfiguration at Huntingdon. I doubt the junctions along the old A14 were overlooked.c2R wrote: ↑Mon Dec 14, 2020 15:34 https://www.google.com/maps/@52.3187691 ... 384!8i8192

Re: Botched Roadsigns
Signs in this thread fall in to two categories - ones that are technically non-compliant, but which most drivers would think were OK, and ones that are just utterly and horrifyingly wrong.
This sign falls in to category 2. I can't even begin to understand how this came to be made. It's new and temporary, so it's not on GSV and I made a detour to get pictures.
As if the design of the sign wasn't bad enough, it's paired up with another similar sign on the other side of the road that is correct in design, but which shows a different number of lanes
I absolutely despair.

At what point does a temporary sign stop being temporary? Never in this case...

Takes a special kind of moron to get it that wrong. FFS.Chris5156 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 14, 2020 21:48 Signs in this thread fall in to two categories - ones that are technically non-compliant, but which most drivers would think were OK, and ones that are just utterly and horrifyingly wrong.

They've managed to copy a 1975 era lane ends sign and apply Chinese warning triangle colours to it.Chris5156 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 14, 2020 21:48 Signs in this thread fall in to two categories - ones that are technically non-compliant, but which most drivers would think were OK, and ones that are just utterly and horrifyingly wrong.

That's not as good as this. A close look at the sign underneath shows they managed to turn the give priority sign into a right hand drive job. So they "fixed" it using customer invoices and a magic marker.

Re: Botched Roadsigns
Definitely cannot top either Chris or Bryn's examples, but I thought this one was quite a good effort at an adaptation. Not sure the warning sign necessarily matches the plate, though.

The person on that sign does not appear to be angling.

Is that actually on the public highway? If not, then it's fine.traffic-light-man wrote: ↑Thu Dec 17, 2020 18:58 Definitely cannot top either Chris or Bryn's examples, but I thought this one was quite a good effort at an adaptation. Not sure the warning sign necessarily matches the plate, though.

Re: Botched Roadsigns
I'm not sure on the legal standing of that part of the road and it definitely hasn't been erected for the benefit of any motorists, but I think it is, quite literally, a botched road sign.Chris Bertram wrote: ↑Thu Dec 17, 2020 21:53Is that actually on the public highway? If not, then it's fine.
Edit: I'd initially thought that it was a botch of a regular Quayside warning sign, with the car replaced by a dodgy stick man, but it appears that it's actually more of a botch of the HSE-type sign warning of Deep Water in to a road-type warning sign.

Re: Botched Roadsigns
tom66 posted a link elsewhere that featured some old internally illuminated signs in the background, but in the current GSV, it seems that they've managed this beauty during an upgrade

Re: Botched Roadsigns
"No entry... (except by left turn)"????? https://www.google.com/maps/@51.4153734 ... 384!8i8192
Pretty sure no right turn is enough.
Also since one of the no entry signs is gone, and there's a no right turn sign in its place, if you think about it, it says "No right turn except by left turn"

Re: Botched Roadsigns
Humps for 40 yards, and humps for 25 yards in the same place, and for just one hump?

25 yards may be the shortest distance given for a "humps for _" sign, and there's not even multiple humps.
