Where to start with this!

Why have a cyclist dismount sign, when the bus lane can and rest of carriageway can be used easily.
"Cycle Path Closed"? Surely that should be "Cycle Track", although I'd also accept "Cycle Lane" even though that would be incorrect.
The cyclist merging sign, is that for cyclists, is it for motorists. Either way it is horrid, Can't read it unless a few meters away, and cyclists merge into the bus lane anyway.
The diagram has the bike facing the wrong way.
The diagram is completely wrong even if it of a prescribed use. There are two lanes in either direction, one of which are bus lanes. Not 1 lane in either direction as shown.
To be fair, there should only ever be one white downward pointing opposing traffic arrow regardless of how many lanes there are in the opposite direction.

Having said that, the sign is truly awful. For starters, the less said about the arrowheads the better...

Wow 500 pages of botches !

On a similar theme to my last post. Another case of flag signs located in advance of a junction. Even though there is a standard ADS just back around the corner..
These are reflective but i guess they are quite old. All of them shouldn't be green as the A56 is non primary in both directions. Also M56 is spurious (for a non primary route) as if you reach this sign you have effectively come from the M56 anyway at Lymm interchange.

Unless this sign at the end of the A14 in Felixstowe has been updated since this image was taken in July 2021, this appears to have the wrong speed limits for the vehicle types indicated, as per https://www.gov.uk/speed-limits. Perhaps that's why I seemed to overtake a lot more 'slow' lorries than usual on the A12 when I was driving back from there the other week...

Unusual for these to be located 'on' the roundabout? https://www.google.com/maps/@52.5313055 ... 312!8i6656
Even worse the fact that it is double sided ! https://www.google.com/maps/@52.5314573 ... 312!8i6656
What on earth? !

Very strange that they are on the centre of a standard roundabout. Maybe if it was a one-way system, flag signs on the right could be okay (depending on other factors), but double sided is just asking for trouble!

A special kind of botch... as of yesterday even more of the background sign is now on show.

Saying that, I'm conscious that a ridiculous amount of redundant signplates must be routinely trashed every year, at least somebody has recycling in mind in this instance.

This was probably technically correct when installed. You would however have thought some degree of future-proofing in consideration of the upgrade of the A1 north of here would have been in mind for such a huge sign structure during the design phase.

Does anybody know what these are? just no waiting signs with a white cross instead of red? They are located here https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@53.22944 ... 384!8i8192 at Sealand.

When/if NH ever get around to making that a bog-standard diverge, the sign probably won't be in the right location anyway, so a basic verge mounted sign will likely replace it. Edit - looking on Google maps, it looks like it would be 100m or so out of position.

There's likely more than enough capacity left in the structure for it to take what was a 2908 though, so not much of an issue* I suspect.

*Trivial compared to NH actually getting around to changing the junction layout.

It’s tempting to say they mean “no Scots”, but I think in reality the red cross has faded to white while the red circle hasn’t.

I think you're right as rolling back to the 2014 GSV image they're a kind of orangey white.

edit - in fact theyre fully red in 2009 https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@53.22932 ... 312!8i6656 so have deteriorated very quickly !

That's not a no waiting sign btw :)

This is though. And no, it's not faded, because they are all the same.

That is very bizarre, controlled parking zones only apply to single yellow lines so an "at any time" zone makes no sense, but it's the not the first time I've seen it. I presume it's just to draw attention to the loading restriction without the need for kerb stripes, but very odd and unlikely to have special authorisation.

You mean the excessive gap between "The" and "SOUTH", as well as the use of Motorway font for the route number at this location?

This was permitted in TSM7, 2013, para 10.8 but has now changed in the 2018 edition, para 10.2.4.

10.2.4. Where flag‑type signs are to be used to direct traffic around a large roundabout or gyratory system on an all‑purpose road to an exit has motorway status, these must have a background colour appropriate to the road on which they are placed (e.g. dark green on a primary route). This is because the actual route indicated (the roundabout etc.) does not have motorway status. The motorway number, in brackets, is shown on a blue patch, together with any appropriate destination placed directly on the dark green or white background of the sign. The junction number, the motorway symbol and distances to destinations are not included on these signs. The advance direction signs on the approach to the roundabout or gyratory system will, however, show the full motorway panel with the motorway symbol when indicating the motorway exit from the roundabout or gyratory. Where the roundabout has motorway status (e.g. it forms part of a junction between two motorways), the flag‑type signs shown in Figure 10‑3 may be used to direct traffic around the circulatory carriageway.
