Thought this one was interesting. A local attraction including directions to a local car park. https://www.google.com/maps/@53.196911, ... 384!8i8192

The concept's not unusual, however it could have been done better and correctly simply by installing a direction sign (with an arrow) saying "Chester Little Theatre" and the standard P symbol.

Indeed. However I'd be thinking such a sign was pointing to a dedicated car park for the theatre. So if I was going to the theatre I'd be confused when I reached a public car park, and if I wasn't I'd unnecessarily avoid the car park.

I presume someone designed this for facing the other direction, then switched the arrows around.

Popular in Exeter though

"Ikea" is quite common on signs. To be honest I'm not sure what else you can put on the sign in a situation like that. You've already got "Superstore" and "Retail Park" pointing the other way, so you need to distinguish Ikea from the other shops - and I don't really see how you can do that without using the brand name.
I also notice that the other entrance is on "Ikea Way" - are brands allowed in street names?
I guess it would be either 'Furniture store' or 'Department store'?

A few odd ones from my recent travels.

Whitchurch in Shropshire seems to have many of these signs without destinations.

Near Ellesmere. Pretty sure white patches shouldn't be on there?

Talking of misuse of flag signs, is this, or is this not a thing of beauty: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@53.77382 ... 384!8i8192 (A63 near the boot and shoe)

It replaces this, which is still not the right sign for the gore but at least is a better size: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@53.77382 ... 312!8i6656

As there's no ADS for the junction, I've no idea how you're supposed to see the latest variant with time to turn off.

Thats quite poor (and dangerous) for such a fast road.

That's the former A1, I'm fairly sure that it used to have an ADS in those days.

It does still have the half-mile ADS here but yes, that should be repeated at the junction and not the abomination there now to replace another wrong sign.

There was a 60 / Queue Ahead on the M5 northbound by j3 this afternoon. The bouncing yellow balls were doing left/right rather than top/bottom, and it looked very strange. All the others were doing it right.

I don't think it should have a prohibition sign either.

Where to start with this!

Why have a cyclist dismount sign, when the bus lane can and rest of carriageway can be used easily.
"Cycle Path Closed"? Surely that should be "Cycle Track", although I'd also accept "Cycle Lane" even though that would be incorrect.
The cyclist merging sign, is that for cyclists, is it for motorists. Either way it is horrid, Can't read it unless a few meters away, and cyclists merge into the bus lane anyway.
The diagram has the bike facing the wrong way.
The diagram is completely wrong even if it of a prescribed use. There are two lanes in either direction, one of which are bus lanes. Not 1 lane in either direction as shown.

Not to mention the main direction signs are completely incorrect for a lane drop exit...

There's hardly a sign that's right on the East Cross Route, and even the ones that are designed properly show no consistency from one to the next. The lane drops are signposted badly and the markings are even worse - northbound at the A11 there's a rare remaining example of a strange style of lane drop road marking that was specific to the GLC and thankfully has now been mostly eliminated, where the exiting lane has a dashed sliproad marking crossing it diagonally and then merges into lane 2. I can't believe this keeps being reinstated.

Noticed this one today at High Legh along the A50. Surely these should be on the other side of the road, not advance of the junction. Unless exceptional circumstances allow this? Also intriguingly mounted below a Give way board.
