Spotted this in Talacre, Flintshire. I think it's pre-Worboys:

BBC Scotland's this week's pictures page contains a Pre-Worboys school sign. Don't recall it being there the last time I visited Glenelg - or maybe it slipped my mind because the other sign in the photo made me laugh aloud.

If I'm ever in that part of the world I'd like to have a look at the back of the plates to see how old they really are. They don't use a design that was usual for pre-Worboys signs, and they look remarkably new, both in terms of how clean they look and in the mounting system on the rear of the sign face. I wonder if they're an attempt at a replica.
Yes, a local resident told me they used to be pointing as far as Southend before they were replaced, I have no idea when. The odd thing is unlike nearly every p-W replica direction sign I've seen these actually use the correct font but failed to put the arrowhead at the end to copy the right design. It's a bugger really.

Yes they are and yes there is. Fruit gum reflectors are all the real thing.

Good spot. I found that one on the map today. Thats on the road down to the holiday camp isn't it? where road splits before the railway. I've been there many moons ago before i was interested in this kind of thing..

That's the one (Talacre sign), Rambo. I just saw it whilst driving down the main road so I went back to check and have a closeer look and then took the photo. It's surprising how many of these old signs are still around.

The sign is entirely correct - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland- ... s-19976650. Glenelg (Earth) is apparently the only place to be twinned with somewhere outside of Earth. There was a twinning ceremony in 2012, with NASA representing Glenelg (Mars).

I am put to shame by jonnyf90 I live only two miles away from those 40 repeater signs on Kirkstall Road in Leeds and never noticed them! In repentance I have walked the stretch and there appear to be two survivors, and here they are, both heading west past Kirkstall Abbey and Burley Rugby Club.

There are quite a few around Pateley Bridge, including three - I think - in the main car park.

...and there is an issue I'm keen to get to the bottom of. These signs were bog-standard in my youth, but are disappearing fast, partly down to modern-day political correctness, but they seem to be PW font; Do they count? These two are at Laneshawbridge near Colne, Lancs.

Definitely pre-Worboys. I’d say they’re disappearing because pre-Worboys signs are rare, and modern equivalents either use symbols for men/women or the general word “toilets”, and because public toilets in general are far less common than they used to be.

I've driven past this quite a few times but only spotted it today.

I think that it's a pre-Worboys but if it's just a council sign then let me know and I'll post it in the council signs thread.

Looking at my photos, I see that the sign is on the house-side of the fence but I'm sure it is an officially-placed sign.

Yet another that I've driven past several times without noticing.

As per my last post, I think this is pre-Warboys but if it's a council sign then let me know and I'll move it to the other thread.

Only one from me recently. Found this on the side of a barn along the old course of the A49, Lower Whitley.

While we're on the subject of Pre Worboys. I passed Golborne yesterday on the A573 and this example has been replaced with a modern 'Welcome to Golborne' sign or something along those lines. GSV has it still in situe as of May this year. I've seen a lot of these on the approach to villages in Wales and North Yorkshire but none mounted this high up. Perhaps it's removal is down to safety. Hopefully it's not been scrapped and finds it's way to a museum..
