Pre-Worboys preservation campaign

Re: Pre-Worboys preservation campaign
Just going back to the AA signs, this one used to stand in Mevagissey. Alas I've just looked on streetview and it disappeared around 2016.
Re: Pre-Worboys preservation campaign
I can confirm the Mevagissey sign has gone, I looked for it there a few years ago.
Also gone is the To Car (free) Park sign at nearby Pentewan, a victim of Cornwall CC's decision to sell off all of their free car parks.
To cheer you up, here are some more I've found in Cornwall, most of which I think are still there. These two are in the middle of St. Blazey, near St. Austell.

Re: Pre-Worboys preservation campaign
This was near Fowey, but note tense. It has been replaced by a new sign, which is fairly pointless given the direction it faces, i.e. a tiny one-lane road leading from a dead-end which is only marginally better.
Re: Pre-Worboys preservation campaign
These two are in Saltash, the first on the west side where the old bypass (it now has two) diverged from the old road, and the second close to the Town Centre.
Re: Pre-Worboys preservation campaign
These two gems are hidden away on a hillside in East Looe, at either end of a steep track. The one with the surviving solid red circle is the one at the top of the track.
Re: Pre-Worboys preservation campaign
..and finally, another of those AA signs I've just discovered, near Oxford.
Re: Pre-Worboys preservation campaign
As a local resident, I can confirm that the Mevagissey sign was carefully removed and is in the local museum in the village. It was very fragile and corroded due to the salty air but is safe. The building needed repairs so it had to be moved.
One question though: where these signs existed, was there only one or did they originally have them either end of their respective locations?

Re: Pre-Worboys preservation campaign
now this is a find. where about was this if you dont mind me asking?
Re: Pre-Worboys preservation campaign
Nearly all the Cornwall ones are new to the internet, and the two 'to the' arrow signs are the last remaining in the country unless more turn up. Shame they're too far for me to get to.

Ok, finger posts are normally 'frowned' upon on this thread but while it's Christmas..

Double sided near Hitchin. I've had queries about such areas before but I can't see any reason why this doesn't qualify.

Re: Pre-Worboys preservation campaign
Incredibly old and rare, the upper one has to be a fingerpost (obvious reason) but the triangle below probably does count.

I'd never heard of the Road and Path Cycling Association but there's some history here:
