Here is an enlargement of the picture shown above as requested. It possibly reads no waiting or loading on even dats along with times.

I'm pretty sure no one's got this yet I just stumbled across in Filey

I also caught my first unadopted road sign in Grantham, they used to be quite widespread.

I just found this unique sign in Elmley Castle near Evesham, rather than go 90 miles on a chance does anyone know if it's old or a poor copy, and maybe has or can take a picture so I can see it properly before I decide to take it or not? Thanks!

The Kersoe Turn Left? Possibility I could detour through there on a trip mid September if you don't get a better offer?

Thanks Claude, the 1 has a serif but the rest looks good, but rather a heavy font for p-w. It's a nice trip and as no one on Geograph knew it I'll go anyway, plenty more to take generally over that way if it's a loser.

The turn left was indeed extremely dodgy as it looked, and was hand painted on wood and is posted in signs made like PW here. I was already half way there so used the journey to get these as well north of Swindon which was only a minor detour. I also finally picked up the crossroads in Batsford which looked like a new one but probably isn't.

Spotted this in July going through Chew Magna, unfortunately couldn't stop easily due to traffic, lack of parking and running late!

Have we seen it before?

Looks like the PW sign near Greenhithe that I remember from the 90s has made a re-appearance - looks a bit worse the wear on Streetview though! (It'd been behind some thick undergrowth and if you didn't know it was there you'd never have known.)

As it stands out like a sore thumb in the Streetview I guess it could well have gone now.

Have you now visited this and taken a photo? I'm kicking myself over this one as I walked right past it only two weeks ago at the start of a long distance walk. I didn't have a camera as my walking buddy is the main photographer and he was off up the road taking photos of the pub (noteworthy as the queen stayed there on a visit in 1575).

Anyway I can get walking buddy to check through his pics. It is likely we'll do this walk again at some point and I won't miss the sign again! Streetview 2009 has a slightly better view of the sign.

I visited the Historic Dockyard in Chatham last week, on my way home. Whilst the main focus is on the historic buildings, they also have a number of PW signs dotted around, including a HALT triangle in a circle (but no panel).

Anyway, I came across this sign, and wondered if it was based on a genuine PW sign. The font appears to be Transport. Sorry it’s a bit poor quality, I took it from the end of the street and didn’t have time to get up close.

(It’s taken me a long time to separate this image; I thought I was taking a normal snapshot with my phone, but it sometimes makes short video clips instead, which the board wouldn’t allow me to upload).

What's the triangle?!

Warning, priority over oncoming vehicles?

Give way to oncoming vehicles, upside down?

Thought everybody knew about that. 😕

Usually found upside down within a circle. Something makes ne think that’s a copy of a sign rather than an original one.

I guess the style inspired the earliest Worboys STOP sign.

Not sure if that was in response to my comment - if so, I meant the one attached to the fencing

Oh, you were looking at that one?? Yes, I guess it must be something like that.

But they’re usually found in a circle...

I was more interested in the Pedestrians sign - couldn’t work out if it was another ersatz sign or was based on a PW version.

I found one of these in the New Forest on Flickr but because their maps are no good found this instead, which is barely legible. Once I find the good one I'll have to go back.

I have been there, it was hand painted on wood, I presume the council wouldn't make one so someone made their own.

I'll add it once I find where I posted it.
