Indeed! I never turn left out of that junction so I'd not noticed!
Also of interest is the Sea View pub. It might seem an odd name for a pub as far inland as Chorley, but I can confirm that it is possible to see Blackpool Tower on a clear day, and the sea itself on a VERY clear one.

An hour in mid Wales heading for the mountain road.

Re: Pre-Worboys preservation campaign
I found this beauty yesterday on Flickr in Sudbury (not the one down the road for me, I had to get to Suffolk) and went today and got it, it still applies to the bus stand today.
Re: Pre-Worboys preservation campaign
Another one spotted on my travels; I think this is pre-Worboys based on the font but in all honesty it's not my specialism.
We're on the B1286 in New Herrington, west of Sunderland. The 2009 Streetview Image caputres it best. Intriguing street names too!

Re: Pre-Worboys preservation campaign
Apart from the arrow technically yes, but also a 'leading to' a road sign which are classed under road names. Not many like that though, here's another in Chiswick.
Re: Pre-Worboys preservation campaign
Does anyone know if the old ford sign is still by Cutwell Ford in Tetbury? The only capture is from 2009 and I won't go all that way without being certain.
Re: Pre-Worboys preservation campaign
Thank goodness the gamble paid off as it was a nice day out to somewhere new regardless but unlikely to ever get these elsewhere now.

I've some more Welsh ones to post when I get a chance, but today I drove past this.

Ah, I know it well! That's where I grew up. Well, near there, not actually at that sign. I think it's been repainted since the last Streetview pass.

Re: Pre-Worboys preservation campaign
I suspected there was more than one present and one absent old directions in Swindon and my intuition was right, after a thorough search online there was one more so rather than get them both at once took a different route today and covered plenty of new ground for Geograph which I expect many here are familiar with.

Wow. The atmospheric conditions just add to the old-worldly feeling of these signs

Unfortunately, this relic has bitten the dust very recently during an LED street lighting upgrade that saw the concrete columns disappear.
Its blue-bordered counterpart has been moved to the new column though, despite also no longer being prescribed.

Well there was good and bad news. This beauty, one of the last yellow bordered signs with more than one name was still there, the white wearing off the enamel to show the yellow underneath.
However the two arrows to Wothorpe I drove past last year without noticing them as they were just off the ground have just gone, only a few months ago maximum to new ones on a tall pole. They only needed a new pole.

Re: Pre-Worboys preservation campaign
I don't often visit this part of Central London, so I was very pleased the other day to find this still in situ. Ten years ago there were quite a few pre-Worboys signs around London, but I'd struggle to think of another inside the Inner Ring Road now.
