Mix n' Match Streetlights
I have noticed driving around that sometimes you get sometimes 2 diffrent streetlight fittings on one twin armed collum
Here are a few examples
Peterborough

Sheffield

Anyone got any other examples ?

Re: Mix n' Match Streetlights
One of the more documented examples would have to be the M62 crossing the Pennines.
The A55 in North Wales has a few good examples if you know where to look. One example is here. A Phillips SGS203 and the older grooved bowl Alpha 8 - now becoming rare. A little further along in the same row you come across this, another SGS203 paired up with the newer Alpha 8.
On the A565 between Crosby and Formby, you'll find this. A perfectly acceptable coulmn partly infected with the dreaded 'V Virus'.
This one closer to home is harder to spot. They're both Thorn Triumphs for sure - but they certainly aren't the same. Just around the corner from there used to be a double bracket with a Phillips MA60 one end and another Triumph on the other, but sadly it must have only just gone (removed with the M53 roadworks) when the Google Car went past.

The journey is never over until the arrival.

I present to you the mess that Brighouse has got: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&sourc ... ,,2,-16.25
One side is lit by an orange sodium lantern where as the other is lit by a bluey/white lamp.It looks daft at night time.

Re: Mix n' Match Streetlights
These on the M62 have different lanterns each side but at least they're the same light source so it looks OK at night.
How would you like your grade separations, Sir?
Big and complex.

Re: Mix n' Match Streetlights
What is most unusual about the Brighouse example above is that the twin bracket columns are rather new, but it appears that the SOX lanterns from the old concrete columns have been transferred to them. Don't see that happening much these days.
Re: Mix n' Match Streetlights
Apparently the older looking lanterns were transfered to the new posts possibly through recycling the older light.
Re: Mix n' Match Streetlights
The lights on the Ludenscheid Link in Brighouse were indeed reused as a means of maintaining consistency of lighting - SOX on the mainline.
It was all done when the bus station was rebuilt in 2007.

Re: Mix n' Match Streetlights
Do you know why there is a different design of streetlights on each side of the road?

Re: Mix n' Match Streetlights
These are quite a recent fitting in Birmingham - LED on one side, halogen on the other. The main road was upgraded to LEDs recently but the slip road was left for some reason.
