I think Dorset Road was made long before there were standard signs and they were issued individually. There are a few similar ones in Shepherds Bush but without the no way, but there is a No Way to the River in Henley.

Here's one from Billericay

It seems many of these church signs have been left by councils as they are still relevant.

This could well be the worst made sign on a public road, but here it is. It appeared to be sticky letters but a few seem to be wearing off which would imply paint. It isn't actually to West Ham, but their training ground a few miles east.

Those letters look like they came from a make it yourself number plate kit.

They are ghastly, not lined up properly, and the first N looks painted on as you can see it fading.

Here's a proper effort in Bayford but sadly for me a private road one.

Here's a rare one but as a private road will always be non-league

This one may qualify as it appears the top has been removed. Might have been Blaydon UDC or Durham Country Council?

There's evidence of others in the area with the base of their cast iron remaining. This one outside Winlaton, Blaydon is the only one that survives.

A typical old fingerpost. Most are slightly different and last over a hundred years if looked after.

Gorgeous fingerpost on Barnes Common (between Richmond and Putney oddly enough)

Somewhere around Thame on what appeared to be a much newer bus shelter.

This is a local spot near Chelmsford which doesn't appear on the internet or any maps.

The parish also has its own marker signs. I've never seen them anywhere else.

Street name plates in the MOT letterset just look wonderful. I always smile when I see a proper cast one from the 50s.

Here's a lovely one I found in Wootton Bassett. I've seen one other arrow sign to a road but three is even better. I don't think it can qualify as pre-Worboys though unless anyone knows different?

The current versions of these are in every pull-in across the country, this is the first old one I've found near Witney.

Strange double post happened here, can anyone delete this duplicate thanks?

Old-style sign, but up to date with the road numbering.

That's the famous "Pillar of Salt" sign in Bury St Edmunds, dating from 1935 and Grade II listed. They have indeed replaced the sign panels as the road numbers have changed.

I have now found a second Oxfordshire sign like that in Hinksey. Not in any other counties though.

I spotted two of these today about 4 miles apart near Bakewell in Derbyshire. I couldn't find anything similar online so I'm unsure what to make of them.

Old road name sign that i'm quite fond of for some reason.
Redruth, not so nice so the government decided to bypass it twice.
