Re: Manky Signs
Not all that manky but i noticed a couple of these old style side road warning signs still going strong along the M6. One here at 'Spaghetti' https://www.google.com/maps/@52.5114683 ... 384!8i8192 in quite good condition.

It's on one of those multi-piece boards so is almost certainly a relatively recent manufacturing but a direct copy of the old sign it replaced, in a similar vein to the 1:6 sign I posted the other week.
I wonder how this one came to be made, though, as surely the new sign design would be 'off the shelf (or computer file)'? It's not as if the old one would be photographed and the maker works off that or something similar.

Re: Manky Signs
There seem to be plenty of manky Give Way signs (complete with visible rivets) around Mold but this was about the best (mankiest) one:

This could possibly qualify for the Rare Signs thread as you don't see that many of them around:

Re: Manky Signs
Out around Nantwich and I noticed loads of blue-borders, a few pre-Warboys and plenty of general mankiness but I thought this one was worth stopping for (Id be surprised if it hasn't featured before but it's always good to have an update of what's still surviving):
Re: Manky Signs
Thats at Duddon just west of Tarporley along the A51 isn't it? Interesting to see it's not been replaced yet even though the one below looks brand new..Kevin Roads wrote: ↑Sun Sep 26, 2021 16:08 Out around Nantwich and I noticed loads of blue-borders, a few pre-Warboys and plenty of general mankiness but I thought this one was worth stopping for (Id be surprised if it hasn't featured before but it's always good to have an update of what's still surviving):

Re: Manky Signs
That's the one. I also thought it strange that the one below it is fairly-new looking, quite the contrast.
Re: Manky Signs
This one at Alconbury gets worse every time I pass it.

At Stamford Bridge, Cheshire on the B5132 approaching the A51. Probably just needs a good scrub..
Re: Manky Signs
For some reason I'm always more impressed with green primary ones (or even blue motorway ones) than non-primary white or tourist brown!

Re: Manky Signs
Manky, old (visible rivets) and oversized (the correct way to do it, instead of the default yellow backing board - this one is 4' bottom to top):

Classic. I've come across some non existant warning / speed limit signs recently.Kevin Roads wrote: ↑Tue Oct 05, 2021 15:51 Which side is mankier?

These are pretty much bleached out now (5 years after GSV) https://www.google.com/maps/@53.1176286 ... 312!8i6656
Give way ahead (i assume this is) https://www.google.com/maps/@53.1111747 ... 384!8i8192 just round the corner near the A41.
Re: Manky Signs
Some mankiness just off the A495 between Ellesmere and Whitchurch.
Plenty of relics to be found in this area, especially early blue bordered.

Re: Manky Signs
I like the crossroads sign, there can't be that many of those left, surely?
I was just north of there the other week (when I posted the massive blue-bordered sign at Whitchurch) on the roads from Llangollen - Ruabon - Overton - Penley - Whitchurch and commented that there are loads of old signs around that area. Unfortunately, a lot of them are on roads that aren't best-suited to stopping and taking photos. Yes, you could do a StreetView link but it's not quite the same.
