Yes i did. I wasn't sure if you've posted these either. That flag sign has gone a weird grey colour rather than the usual brown!traffic-light-man wrote: ↑Sat Feb 20, 2021 09:16 I assume you've also seen the flag signs there that have seen better days? I can't remember if I posted these or not.

Still surviving at the M66 Pilsworth junction. This one definitely qualifies as manky. I doubt it would scrub up!
Re: Manky Signs
I passed this example of faded manky thick blue bordered loveliness today.

Yes, the don't seem to age well! There were a few more at this junction, but I think they got removed when some of the lighting columns were replaced. Strange really, given they usually just end up being re-installed on the new columns!Rambo wrote: ↑Sat Feb 20, 2021 12:28Yes i did. I wasn't sure if you've posted these either. Original to the M66 opening, fabulous isn't it? It does need replacing but I'll be sad if it does.traffic-light-man wrote: ↑Sun Feb 21, 2021 09:24Yes, the don't seem to age well! I even had to do a bit of pruning to get that photo.Bryn666 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 21, 2021 13:17Original to the M66 opening, fabulous isn't it? Have you seen the similar one coming from Heywood direction? It looks like it's been replaced like for like with a new version.
Re: Manky Signs
They at least added the M60. Surprising how many HE signs ignore the existence of a 23 year old motorway...Rambo wrote: ↑Sun Feb 21, 2021 14:39I even had to do a bit of pruning to get that photo.Bryn666 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 21, 2021 13:17Original to the M66 opening, fabulous isn't it? Another elderly sign which has been given new poles. Bury has quite a few.

Re: Manky Signs
I noticed that. What caught my attention was that it looked very old from the back. However the other two at the other 2 junction arms are modern signs.
Re: Manky Signs
Thanks. I always carry my DSLR with me so i get a proper recording of these. I do get funny looks sometimes. I've been asked do i work for the council on one occasion!crazyknightsfan wrote: ↑Tue Feb 23, 2021 02:28 You take great photos Rambo, always enjoy your contributions to this thread.

Just noticed this one on the A167(M) in Newcastle. Looks as though it has never been changed since it was the A1(M)

Re: Manky Signs
I imagine that because the Central Motorway East is maintained by the local authority, they don't have the funds or the intention to replace many of the dated signs. Quite a few in the area are looking dated, and I highly suspect this sign had a matching 'NO' plate. Also, this 'NO' sign is suspiciously new!JammyDodge wrote: ↑Thu Feb 25, 2021 10:03 Just noticed this one on the A167(M) in Newcastle. Looks as though it has never been changed since it was the A1(M)

Re: Manky Signs
I have only noticed these fairly recently (since becoming an avid 'old sign spotter') and am slightly surprised, being in the city-centre, that they have managed to avoid replacement:
Dark-blue thin border, plus mank https://maps.app.goo.gl/AvGqwdNA9DcErFLb6
The opposite side of the junction is similar, plus an internally-illuminated car park sign that's looking a bit battered (this may be local-council or privately produced so may not strictly qualify for this thread) https://maps.app.goo.gl/PHj9pazAqgJTkdFd6
Another dark-blue border further along the road https://maps.app.goo.gl/CeMgViCWrgT4qGg89 Also, the small 'P'arking arrow looks a bit odd, what does anyone more experienced (Bryn?) think?

Yes, the Parking symbol is wrong, and so is the lettering - they're all in Helvetica. Botched roadsigns from long ago.Kevin Roads wrote: ↑Fri Feb 26, 2021 15:49Dark-blue thin border, plus mank https://maps.app.goo.gl/AvGqwdNA9DcErFLb6
