I don't think the signs on the A1018 in North Shields have been replaced since the seventies and the writing is wearing off to the point it's turned grey on one sign.

Re: Manky Signs
A badly faded "side road on the left" sign, to the point that from a distance it seem as if it's a blank triangle.

South Shields, surely?

Re: Manky Signs
Ha! Good spot!
Yes, we were on a walk that went into Stainforth and I just passed by that sign, so I took a pic. I didn't go out of my way to look around for anything else as we ended up in the Craven Heifer, good food and beer. We'll almost-certainly be in Stainforth again this week so if you let me know where those other signs are then I'll see if they are still alive (I realise it's not that big a place but it make it easier).
Similarly, if you know of anything else of interest or that you want to check is still standing, then let me know. I've seen some of the well-known pre-Warboys, obsolete z-bend signs and the like mentioned on here so I'll try and keep an eye out for the more mundane, overlooked stuff.

There are lots of signs around the Milton Keynes area that could do with replacement...

A few good 'new town' style oldies there. However the last two links just take me back to this forum.MotorwayGuy wrote: ↑Mon Mar 21, 2022 14:41 There are lots of signs around the Milton Keynes area that could do with replacement...

I caught the blue border in 2020 by chance but can't remember posting it. Took me by surprise. Can't beat the pre worboys stuff at Horton in Ribblesdale.Kevin Roads wrote: ↑Sat Mar 19, 2022 23:07Ha! Good spot!
