Re: Worn out / Faded signs on major routes
Oh crikey - thanks! I did search for other threads but 'manky' isn't the first word that sprung to mind!

On a different note, what a worn out looking stretch of carriageway.Guillodean wrote: ↑Sat Jun 05, 2021 23:38 Hi everyone - long time lurker, first time poster.
I was in Edinburgh earlier this week and took a bus trip to see the Forth bridges. On the A90 N/B just south of the Dalmeny junction I passed what is probably the most worn out sign I've seen on a major road. Google link is as follows:

Are there any similar or worse examples than this?

The sign right behind you is pretty manky too...Guillodean wrote: ↑Sat Jun 05, 2021 23:38 Hi everyone - long time lurker, first time poster.

Anyway, the A9O, one of my favourite Scottish roads... perhaps they'd run out of zeros?

Re: Manky Signs
Don't know if this flag sign on a A12 roundabout near Ipswich has been mentioned here yet. Passed it yesterday. At least it was there. The one from a couple of roundabouts back is missing and the lack of one here on the A325 Six Bells Roundabout has always bothered me. It's been missing for at least 10 years.
Re: Manky Signs
22t was never prescribed - 3.5, 7.5, 18, and 26 were the structural limits. This sign should have been replaced by a WEAK ROAD type sign some time after 1994 anyway.Kevin Roads wrote: ↑Tue Jun 01, 2021 19:03Yes, that's what I think, hence "I think it may be a fairly recent replacement for an obsolete sign". As you suggest, it's probably just a like-for-like replacement but is '22T' no longer in TGRSD? Also, is the weight-limit for the bridges?

Re: Worn out / Faded signs on major routes
I was on the top floor of a double decker and can definitely vouch for the poor road surface!
Good spot on the sign behind - I think I missed it as I was looking for the first one on my return trip, so I would have been looking backwards.
Anyway, now I know of the Manky Signs thread I think my post is better placed in there so i'll adapt/repost it there and maybe one of the mods can lock/delete this thread for tidiness.
Cheers

Hi everyone - newbie here
I was in Edinburgh earlier this week and took a bus trip to see the Forth bridges. On the A90 N/B just south of the Dalmeny junction I passed what is probably the most worn out sign I've seen on a major road. https://goo.gl/maps/ufJjsG4ucHifJWtm6
Bfivethousand pointed out the one behind isn't much better either: https://goo.gl/maps/j99M61bA1xA582UQA
More locally to me this fading thing points toward a lorry park that hasn't been there even since the 2009 GSV image https://goo.gl/maps/EjTstjXW77Fzp3Mi8 and here they replaced the sign around 2017 but kept the rusty legs https://goo.gl/maps/y3XB2cTvhBHLZjEF7 - pretty sure the replacement should have been a white sign as well, rather than green.

Some recent spots. I'm particularly fond of the 'station' sign that's still holding its colour (just).

Re: Manky Signs
I would guess that this one could pre date the use of brown tourist signs. im sure someone will have the date they were introduced.

Saw this one yesterday on the A165 outside Scarborough, now has another 3 years of fading since the Street View last went through:
