The last one from your original post, a little further along must be a contender for most destinations on one sign https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@52.03874 ... 384!8i8192MotorwayGuy wrote: ↑Fri Mar 25, 2022 19:49Should be fixed now.Rambo wrote: ↑Mon Mar 21, 2022 21:06A few good 'new town' style oldies there. Re: Manky Signs
This looks a bit manky, but still good for its age. Original to the M4 construction?

Here's a superb example in Croxley Green (Hertfordshire). It is, presumably, referring to the ped crossing 100 metres further on. In the 2008 image it looked in good condition.
Re: Manky Signs
This could equally be in the Twin Town thread but as it is mostly manky I shall park it here

Large blue border local to me. There are lots like this that could do with a clean. The council have been doing some lately after being too lax in recent years.

I don't think this one's been posted before. I pass it quite regularly and I've been meaning to stop and snap it for a while. There's also a bonus blue border to go with it.

This No U-turn sign is looking very tired nowadays...

At Stourton in South Staffs at the A449/A458 junction, these two jumbo signs really need replacing:

Re: Manky Signs
Ah yes, the Stewponey junction (named after a now-demolished pub). The first of those signs at least is original, and back then there were no signals either.Worcestershire Wolf wrote: ↑Sat Apr 16, 2022 21:30 At Stourton in South Staffs at the A449/A458 junction, these two jumbo signs really need replacing:

Re: Manky Signs
Hi!
Isn't it time this abonimation on the A48 Eastern Avenue leading out of Cardiff city centre eastbound towards the A48(M) and the M4 was replaced with a new one?
https://maps.app.goo.gl/a62cycJRuFqCyu8A8
. . .as well as this?
https://maps.app.goo.gl/h317eJVoPpBXeqt58
For a major grade–separated main route from the M4 to Cardiff city centre, the entire signing along this entire length of route, wether regulatory, warning or directional, is in an absolutely disgraceful condition, what sort of opinion does this sort of neglect give to visitors and tourists?
Cardiff is Wales's capital and therefore all road signing should be maintained to the very highest quality to show civic pride, yet Cardiff now seems to be out–doing Telford at it's own game!

Dated both in design and also in that I don't think new housing estates are generally given weight limits now? I wonder what the history of this one is.

Re: Manky Signs
That's the old style of sign and my thought on first looking at the StreetView shot is that there used to be a bridge ahead, hence the weight limit. The stepped, brick wall on the right looks like a railway bridge parapet, with just the base of the left wall remaining. I noticed that there is The Railway Inn a short distance down Lanark Road so that adds to the theory.jnty wrote: ↑Wed Apr 20, 2022 15:24 https://goo.gl/maps/ajFxw2bzJYZFeD8k7

Nice find, though. Thanks for posting it.
Re: Manky Signs
Until the late 90s Blackburn had several of these signs. We need to bring them back...Kevin Roads wrote: ↑Wed Apr 20, 2022 19:43Oooh! Good spot, that's a bit different. Nice to see.MotorwayGuy wrote: ↑Wed Apr 20, 2022 15:20 This is a relic for sure:
