Re: Manky Signs
Found this 30MPH sign which must pre-date the ones in front of it. what's even more interesting is that when the concrete post was replaced it was transferred to the new post. you'd think that they would have not bothered with transferring it unless they wanted to keep some history.
Re: Manky Signs
I passed this sign last weekend. My initial reaction was "is it a pre-Worboys?", but I guess the metric 4.0m ruled that out. Anyway, I looked on the Google to see how it looked previously. The current image is Oct 2020. This is how it looked in May 2019.

Despite money being tight, sign replacement continues. Life goes on! I posted this one last year https://www.google.com/maps/@53.2556736 ... 312!8i6656 and i drove past it a few days ago. It has been replaced with an identical modern version.Kevin Roads wrote: ↑Wed May 12, 2021 20:20Rambo, this is the only link that I posted for which I hadn't actually seen the sign and I said that I'd hopefully be in that area soon and would let you know if it was still there. Well, I passed it just last week and it has, unfortunately, been replaced by a current 2T sign. Boring!Rambo wrote: ↑Tue Jan 19, 2021 20:22There is probably loads of obsolete stuff on these quiet country lanes. But are they still there? A lot of GSV images were recorded around 2009 but some of these places haven't had a visit since..Kevin Roads wrote: ↑Mon Jan 18, 2021 14:27 An axle weight (2 or 3 Tons, can't make out which) https://maps.app.goo.gl/aKBzWZFqZYzot6cJA.
I think these went out of the TSRGD a while ago.

I'm assuming vandalism, but they missed some bits.

There's this one near me, needs a good scrub and it'll be as good as new.

Here's one that has definitely seen better days:

I suspect part of an old sign was cut up and used which explains the strange overlaid text..

Yes, looks like an old car park sign saying 620 spaces.c2R wrote: ↑Tue May 25, 2021 07:43 Here's one that has definitely seen better days:

Which has now sadly been replaced with a clean, modern, black-bordered sign. A shame to see the old one go in some ways.

Is it a rule for cyclists that when taking photos, the bike must always be in shot, whether relevant to the purpose of the photo or not?

Not quite a rule, but it sure beats selfies!Chris Bertram wrote: ↑Sat May 29, 2021 10:03 Is it a rule for cyclists that when taking photos, the bike must always be in shot, whether relevant to the purpose of the photo or not?
Also somewhat relevant, as to get to that point I had to pass this sign (which of course meant getting off and pushing): I was pretty confident of where it led, but was curious whether there was any further signage, so the chopsticks were a pleasant surprise.

Re: Manky Signs
Noticed this one https://maps.app.goo.gl/9J2GrNzc2LqUe6zX8 a year or two ago. Although not particularly manky-looking in this pic, I think it may be a fairly recent replacement for an obsolete sign as I don't think 22T is used as a weight limit any more? Happy to be advised by those with more knowledge.
I'll try and have a mooch over there soon and see if it's still there. I'll also see if there's a sign for the opposite direction as I can't see it on StreetView. I'm guessing the limit is for the bridges.

It looks too new therefore perhaps a direct copy of the previous version?Kevin Roads wrote: ↑Mon May 31, 2021 18:24 Noticed this one https://maps.app.goo.gl/9J2GrNzc2LqUe6zX8 a year or two ago. Re: Manky Signs
If there were an award for the most mankiest type of sign it would be these. i've seen so many of these in that condition. Perhaps because the hazard is historically old (near schools) a lot of the signs have been around for a long time.

Re: Manky Signs
Yes, that's what I think, hence "I think it may be a fairly recent replacement for an obsolete sign". As you suggest, it's probably just a like-for-like replacement but is '22T' no longer in TGRSD? Also, is the weight-limit for the bridges?

Worn out / Faded signs on major routes
Hi everyone - long time lurker, first time poster.
I was in Edinburgh earlier this week and took a bus trip to see the Forth bridges. On the A90 N/B just south of the Dalmeny junction I passed what is probably the most worn out sign I've seen on a major road. Google link is as follows:
https://goo.gl/maps/ufJjsG4ucHifJWtm6
Are there any similar or worse examples than this?
