Plenty of relics to be found in this area, especially early blue bordered.
I like the crossroads sign, there can't be that many of those left, surely?

I was just north of there the other week (when I posted the massive blue-bordered sign at Whitchurch) on the roads from Llangollen - Ruabon - Overton - Penley - Whitchurch and commented that there are loads of old signs around that area. Unfortunately, a lot of them are on roads that aren't best-suited to stopping and taking photos. Yes, you could do a StreetView link but it's not quite the same.
Yes i stopped at some where i could. The weather wasn't great too which didn't help. I captured the large blue border you post near the Mcdonalds in Whitchurch. My main aim was to capture the two pre worboys in Ellesmere but it's always good to find other gold along the way.
The crossroads sign is another one of those over sized country lane examples where the speed limit is now 30 and was once perhaps NSL. so it looks a bit out of place. I gave it a bit of a clean (yes you can hardly tell) as it was covered in moss.

Came past this one yesterday and it's got considerably more manky since that view was taken less than six months ago - not helped that trees are now obscurring the bottom half of it.

I guess it's quite a new sign since it has a lattice post (is that the correct term?) so I hate to think what it will look like in a few years.
Let it snow.

Saw this one just today - Google couldn't seemingly get a great view of it thanks to its location!

Don't think so - it struck me as a candidate for this thread when I was turning right out of the side road the other day!

I posted this as a Streetview link earlier this year but have managed to take a photograph:

An old post with a new sign. The other side of the post is very faded, this side shows the black and white bands more clearly:

Interesting to see these black and white poles. I've seen a few recently with modern signs on them. There is one in Chester with one pole black and white on one side only with a blue bordered sign hung above although it could have been painted more recently. The old style double bend sign near me in Daresbury had fallen over and was lay in the grass when i passed recently.. though luckily it will survive another day

A few manky ones in north wales today. Sadly no proper pics, only GSV. Firstly this one here https://www.google.com/maps/@53.3085719 ... 384!8i8192 along a country lane just inland of Mostyn with an interesting plate underneath it.

Clearly a very old modern sign but has a pre worboys look to it.

There is a very faded 'two way' sign very similar to this near me in Latchford here https://www.google.com/maps/@53.379726, ... 312!8i6656
