I saw this lovely old sign in King's Park, Bournemouth, yesterday.

Never seen this design of lorry symbol – can anyone tell me what sort of age it is?

There's an oldie Box Crossing sign beside the level crossing in Blyth. You can see the modern version on the other side of the crossing, I'm surprised they didn't replace both at the same time.

Hi!

Looking carefully at the other (far side) of the crossing you can see a new sign with the light grey back has been fitted to the old posts and the near side of the crossing nearest the camera now also has a new one with the old one leaning against the fence for disposal!

The "wig–wags" also appear to be replacements – is there a contractors label I can see on the back of one?

This line is projected to re–open for passenger services in two years or so, and I believe a new passenger station is planned here or nearby, so it looks like line upgrading for the forthcoming Newcastle–Ashington passenger service is now underway!

I can't see the new Box Crossing sign on this side of the crossing. That old sign has been in the same spot since 2009 according to the old Streetview images.
The new sign on the other side is on new posts. That old sign was previously attached to a post and a concrete lamppost.

I do hope the old station at Newsham is reopened as they've already dropped the new Blyth Bebside station from the plan :bang:

Of interest are the signs by the shop on the right. The New Delaval School sign looks to have been patched over and it's faded badly.

I'd shared that one (actually, I think it was it's partner over the way) a good while ago, I think when discussing the old 'box junction' signs and citing this one as an unusual alternative I'd stumbled across while on GSV. Nice to see one surviving and interesting to see the other replaced! Presumably a like-for-like without any checking when the street lighting was replaced.

Those are the standard Network Rail LED wig wags. The labels on the back are the Unipart Dorman logo, the sole manufacturer and supplier of this particular type of wig wag.

They've been around for quite some time now, and NR followed up their introduction with a relatively rapid replacement programme in some areas, so it's difficult to tell quite how long they've been there. Given the general condition and the moss growing on some of them, I'd say they're not brand new in any case.

It's Christmas holidays so the children have disappeared from this school crossing sign.

Or maybe it's just something about the quality of signs in Troon.

Spotted lurking in the hedge https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@52.44579 ... 384!8i8192

And a bit further along https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@52.45241 ... 384!8i8192 and https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@52.45208 ... 384!8i8192

There's more littered along the (Suffolk) A146 as well, I was almost impressed by the consistency of neglect along here!

Not being so manky but i've put these here for their obsolescence. These merging signs still remain along the A5139 slip road heading towards the M53.

They have travelled from the west to the east coast of Scotland and are holidaying in North Berwick. Next time they will pack their red triangle.

The HGV symbol is from the 1964 regs but the bus is from the 1975 ones. Looks like someone had old vinyl to use. Great find.

This one persists in Fareham: https://goo.gl/maps/x93UUAUCWgKtRBBr6 and some more in Edinburgh: https://goo.gl/maps/P9D76vzTYtjrJsj6A

In my view both usages are incorrect! But perhaps this was appropriate at the time as they seem to be of a similar vintage.

I can't find a reference to the Variable Speed Limit sign ever being prescribed, I assume they're specially authorised for every instance they are sited.

There is an approval for them buried in the archives somewhere.
