Re: Rare Roadsigns
Whilst Wild Horses or Ponies Likely to be in Road Ahead is not that uncommon a sign, I would expect it in places such as Dartmoor, Exmoor or the New Forest etc and not inside the M25. Passed this today. Since there is a farm on the right just after this which looks like it does have a stable block, I wonder if this is actually one for the botched signs thread and it is supposed to be a figure 550.1

Re: Rare Roadsigns
Been there a few times. I like the warning 6 miles to the north - must be a contender for the furthest away warning sign - unless you know better??OliverH wrote: ↑Sun Jun 20, 2021 23:52 another rare one: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@57.16313 ... authuser=0 (Hump back bridge). Let it snow.

Re: Rare Roadsigns
I rather think these two signs are far more important - and sadly grossly out of position. They should be back at the junction because where they are located means overweight/long vehicles now need to find somewhere to turn around.Alderpoint wrote: ↑Tue Jun 22, 2021 17:39Been there a few times. Whilst the second one is a prescribed sign, (Diagram 820), it's rather unhelpful - define "long".
Patience is not a virtue - it's a concept invented by the dozy beggars who are unable to think quickly enough.

This is what we got in 2009: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@57.16276 ... 6?hl=en-GB. In the first link the sign was added sometime between 2015 and 2020.Conekicker wrote: ↑Tue Jun 22, 2021 20:34I rather think these two signs are far more important - and sadly grossly out of position. Re: Rare Roadsigns
Presumably there were a number of incidents of vehicles getting stuck to prompt the extra signing.OliverH wrote: ↑Tue Jun 22, 2021 20:52This is what we got in 2009: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@57.16276 ... 6?hl=en-GB. 18.75m I would guess? Similar to the level crossing signs for the longest an unescorted vehicle can be.Conekicker wrote: ↑Tue Jun 22, 2021 20:34

Indeed. Would be handy to have in idea before you get stuck!Conekicker wrote: ↑Wed Jun 23, 2021 10:05Who knows? Re: Rare Roadsigns
here is a cool 3 sided one. it has now been replaced with a rare arrow pointing to the left bollard with an arrow on all it's sides.Conekicker wrote: ↑Fri Jun 18, 2021 07:37So every cyclist that makes that right turn is disobeying two traffic signs. Also, there is a slightly more common no entry bollard.

Re: Rare Roadsigns
No overtaking isn't rare.
This suburban street in Huddersfield isn't the sort of road that normally gets them, but we've had some others recently.
But the supplementary plate giving the distance is usually underneath. Here for no obvious reason it's at the side.

Re: Rare Roadsigns
Diagram 820 "Unsuitable for........" Is a rectangular plate. Diagram 820A "Unsuitable for HGVs" and alternative versions has the truck pictogram included. Here on the Margate/Broadstairs boundary is a 820A type one but with a bus pictogram/description. Is that an allowed alternative (or was it under older regulations) and if so is this version that common?
Incidentally, the white panel you can just see from this shot down the road on the right is actually a bus stop, which you can see for yourself by taking the road. So this is a bus route and the driver must pass the sign several times daily! I'm guessing it is a "hopper" type used on this route and perhaps the sign is older and designed to try to prevent longer models or coaches from venturing down there. At the end of the road is Botany Bay, oft photographed so perhaps touring coaches are really the target.

In which case "no buses except local buses" like this would be the usual way of showing it.multiraider2 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 25, 2021 14:16 At the end of the road is Botany Bay, oft photographed so perhaps touring coaches are really the target.

Re: Rare Roadsigns
No motor vehicles allowed on Little Free Street, Brecon is looking rather weathered. The Google Streetview car ignored the sign and drove along the road.

Re: Rare Roadsigns
And why not drive down it? If no motor vehicles are allowed, why place double yellows? Also there is one property with a garage on the street and an image of a car parked in a yard. At the far end of the street there is a give way and a no entry sign.Octaviadriver wrote: ↑Sat Jun 26, 2021 08:31 No motor vehicles allowed on Little Free Street, Brecon is looking rather weathered. Perhaps there's an "Except for access" plate missing?

Re: Rare Roadsigns
Interesting that the adjacent homeowner appears to have painted the post in their own blue and black colours. Can't say I've seen anyone do that before. Works quite well.Octaviadriver wrote: ↑Sat Jun 26, 2021 08:31 No motor vehicles allowed on Little Free Street, Brecon is looking rather weathered.
