Re: Rare Roadsigns
A bit off topic but I hope that building is listed. Such a fine example of concrete brutalist architecture is becoming rarer than that no cars sign
How would you like your grade separations, Sir?

Re: Rare Roadsigns
Following this earlier post of mine, people posted examples of where there were such signs. Well the sign is now also back in Penzance, just a bit further along Eastern Green, as the new heliport opened in March.multiraider2 wrote: ↑Sat May 12, 2018 23:40 Are there many "Low flying helicopter or sudden helicopter noise likely ahead" signs around? The only one I can remember passing was on the A30 at Penzance, but that's gone because they closed the heliport there.

I did wonder if there any near RNAS Culdrose, there were some "Low flying aircraft or sudden aircraft noise" signs when I visited in 1992.multiraider2 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 23, 2020 23:41Following this earlier post of mine, people posted examples of where there were such signs. It was and I believe still is, just the more common sign as you saw. See here for example.RichardA626 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 24, 2020 09:45

That made sense when it was a Sea Harrier base. Now they have gone, it is helicopters only and the rarer sign would perhaps be pertinent.

RNAS Culdrose is a diversion airfield for the F35s on HMS Queen Elizabeth, and any other MoD aircraft in trouble over the Wetern Approaches.multiraider2 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 24, 2020 16:22It was and I believe still is, just the more common sign as you saw. I dont think you can get much rarer than No pedestrians horses orses
(no, it's not because of Streetview stitching, it's been like it since at least 2009)

My "sign radar" must be slacking - I've driven past that loads of times and never noticed!JamesA44 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 24, 2020 18:48 I dont think you can get much rarer than No pedestrians horses orses

Re: Rare Roadsigns
The A1 has a few "No U turns except agricultural machinery" in Lincolnshire. I've never seen that anywhere else.
Re: Rare Roadsigns
It would be borderline suicidal to attempt a u-turn in a tractor at any of those points, which makes me wonder what the circumstance is supposed to be where "agricultural machinery" makes a u-turn across the central reservation of a 70mph dual carriageway, or why that might specifically be needed on the Stamford Bypass but nowhere else. It really ought to be revised.the cheesecake man wrote: ↑Fri Mar 12, 2021 13:51The A1 has a few "No U turns except agricultural machinery" in Lincolnshire. I've never seen that anywhere else.

That road looks positively high quality compared to our local council's offerings...

Re: Rare Roadsigns
No overtaking signs are very rare on their own, but what about one in London, on a 20mph residential street?
https://www.google.com/maps/@51.4562311 ... 384!8i8192
It's fairly new and was put up some time between March 2018 and June 2019. In the same period, an island in the road was moved further away from the bus stop and a new zebra crossing was made. I assume they intended to stop people overtaking a bus at the bus stop as this would be dangerous with the new zebra crossing just ahead.

Re: Rare Roadsigns
The plate is a nonsense. "80 yards" is meaningless and almost certainly not permitted for that sign - it should surely be "For 80 yards".Skipsy wrote: ↑Sat Apr 10, 2021 13:29 No overtaking signs are very rare on their own, but what about one in London, on a 20mph residential street?

Re: Rare Roadsigns
A no overtaking sign went up in 2017 along the street route of the Croydon Tramlink at Lebanon Road Stop. The plate underneath, as you will note, is "BEWARE TRAMS" rather than a specified distance. There is also a double white line in the road adjacent this eastbound tramstop and the bus stop opposite.
Seen here. But this road isn't 20mph yet.
