My candidate for today's white-line error
I spotted this last night, after Eastleigh Borough Council had spent a fortnight of overnight work, resurfacing Leigh Road around the M3 J13 overpass and half-way into Eastleigh.
I am standing, facing West towards the M3, in the middle of the West-bound carriageway past the site of the old council offices ( ahead on the left behind the hoardings) and Fire/Police HQ (on the right):
And it was all going so well until the white-line gang rocked up: (Hint, if you exit the side-road on the LEFT, they want you to either turn LEFT (thus away from the camera) or proceed straight ahead then turn RIGHT onto the eastbound carriageway which is a further 40yds to the right of the camera).
Now, what got lost in translation??

That needs raising with them ASAP as that is potentially *dangerous*.

Done - Eastleigh BC call centre giggled nervously, then she said "it's Hampshire"...
"The engineers are now aware" ; no doubt once they stop laughing.
Anyway, it brightened my morning.

Anywhere that you have a district and county council (Eastleigh Borough is a Non Metropolitan District Council), it is always the County that are the Highways authority.

And the borough have chased the County with the result that, within two days, all is fine!:Al__S wrote: ↑Sat Oct 27, 2018 07:48 Anywhere that you have a district and county council (Eastleigh Borough is a Non Metropolitan District Council), it is always the County that are the Highways authority.

Oh, I don't know. The spacing between "No" and "Entry" looks all wrong to me!mikehindsonevans wrote: ↑Sat Oct 27, 2018 21:49 And the borough have chased the County with the result that, within two days, all is fine!:

Philip, I also thought that and therefore I take your point, but on balance I'll take the "good enough and basically correct and (most importantly) pointing/facing the right way now" approach.SouthWest Philip wrote: ↑Sat Oct 27, 2018 21:53Oh, I don't know. Re: My candidate for today's white-line error
This sliproad has been remarked with two lanes at the yielding point. Not quite sure who approved it as the roundabout remains a single lane, but it seems to be a feeble attempt to create stacking space that would otherwise overflow onto the A41 mainline.
The proper way to solve this would be to create a lane drop on the mainline, with the left-hand lane being dedicated for this junction.

Three lanes on the approach and two-ish on the roundabout. I wouldn't fancy being in the centre lane on the approach. Well done Doncaster.
Patience is not a virtue - it's a concept invented by the dozy beggars who are unable to think quickly enough.
Re: My candidate for today's white-line error
Arcady said we needed 3 lanes on approach, so we provided 3 lanes on approach.......Conekicker wrote: ↑Sat Oct 27, 2018 22:30There's something similar at M18 J3Skye wrote: ↑Sat Oct 27, 2018 22:14 This sliproad has been remarked with two lanes at the yielding point. 3 lane approach, one for left, one straight, one right - so only two carrying on around after the first exit.Bryn666 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 29, 2018 11:49Arcady said we needed 3 lanes on approach, so we provided 3 lanes on approach.......Conekicker wrote: ↑Sat Oct 27, 2018 22:30There's something similar at M18 J3Skye wrote: ↑Sat Oct 27, 2018 22:14 This sliproad has been remarked with two lanes at the yielding point. Re: My candidate for today's white-line error
There's a similar mess here, at Longton A50/Trentham Road - I've no idea whether the middle lane on approach comes from the left or right, and I've no idea where it goes on the roundabout, which has no markings at all, but is treated as having two lanes. To add to the confusion, it's got four entrances and four exits, but five or six roads, with one-way roads/slip roads and odd angles making it difficult to keep track of which exit is which and where you should be signalling.Conekicker wrote: ↑Sat Oct 27, 2018 22:30 There's something similar at M18 J3
