Unusual sign in Eltham

Post by Telstarbox »

This is on the A2 northbound where there is an off-slip for the A205.

Is the sign at the diverge point with the two diagonal arrows (A205 left / A2 right) standard? You can't actually see it very well when driving along as the illuminated bollard gets in the way.

There isn't one in the opposite direction (A2 southbound).

Yes, I've wondered the same thing before - most gore signs I've seen anywhere else just have an arrow indicating the off slip....

The only one similar I can think of is this on the A316. It's not the same, however, as it's two separate signs.

I'd assume they're non-standard given how rare they are but what do I know?

Cue everyone pointing out where the other examples are :) although these are not stacked vertically
lose: (v): to suffer the deprivation of - to lose one's job; to lose one's life.

loose: (a): free or released from fastening or attachment - a loose end.

There is a vertically stacked example nearby...

I've driven past the Eltham sign so many times without seeing it/needing to read it.
The opposite direction had an overhead gantry so no requirement for such stacked signs however that was removed so now just has the big green sign
Interestingly the London bound carriageway sign lists the A205 (A20)(A21) where as the Kent bound only lists the A205 (A20). I guess people going out of London don't want to head out towards Bromley or Orpington and beyond

Bit of a thing for A road numbers in Motorway Permanent wasn't there along the Chiswick Flyover. This has been replaced since.
