SMT can’t fix the link either... sorry...

It was correct the first time he posted this. I suspect a cut-and-paste of the elided link from the original post.
Re: Unknown pipe thing next to lay-by in Wales, what is it?
It certainly worked earlier. Has it been posted twice?

Had to wait to access the PC I originally used to look at the post but I've recovered the Google URL :-

( Tweaked slightly to make the view be centered on the object )

Hmm, odd one that. My first suspicion is that its a water mains sampling point but they tend to be green pillars around here.

Whatever it is, it looks a bit vulnerable there, and just ready to be flattened!

That's a water mains sampling point. It allows the water company's sampler teams to draw water from the mains and test it for impurities without having to bother any residents.Tom Williams wrote: ↑Tue Dec 11, 2018 16:31That's exactly it!rhyds wrote: ↑Tue Dec 11, 2018 16:30A tall, slim one like this?Tom Williams wrote: ↑Tue Dec 11, 2018 16:16

But why is it in the middle of nowhere and on a lay by?rhyds wrote: ↑Tue Dec 11, 2018 16:36That's a water mains sampling point. It allows the water company's sampler teams to draw water from the mains and test it for impurities without having to bother any residents.
Re: Unknown pipe thing next to lay-by in Wales, what is it?
Because there's a water main underneath it they need to test, and next to a layby makes lots of sense as you need somewhere to park the van.Tom Williams wrote: ↑Tue Dec 11, 2018 16:42But why is it in the middle of nowhere and on a lay by?
