Nice video! By coincidence I have also gotten into Inkscape sign design, as can be seen here

I recommend using the alignment features for images and block destinations, as they are very handy.

I have it so snapping is on which makes things easier and quicker. Also scaling everything to an x height of 100mm is easier as well.
