Are these terminal signs poorly placed?

Post by Rambo »

Apologies for starting a new thread as i'm sure these things have been discussed numerous times on other threads..

What are your thoughts on these 30 mph terminal signs here https://www.google.com/maps/@53.4139542 ... 312!8i6656 i've also attached a screenshot.
Especially turning left off the A49 dual carriageway onto the A574 Cromwell Avenue you come to a give way line for the roundabout. Because of the angle you have to twist your neck quite a bit to look for traffic coming off the roundabout. Then a pedestrian crossing and the terminal signs almost hidden behind the traffic lights for the said crossing. Mobile speed traps are often in place the other side of the bridge and not being particularly residential for nearly a mile it is easy to accelerate up to the 40 mph mark. Also they appear to be at different heights which is odd. My question really is why aren't these set further back or in my opinion stay at 40mph until the the next roundabout just under a mile down the road..

I see what you mean. It looks like a case for reviewing the siting - the siting is actually reasonably conventional, enough down the road to be seen on exit - and also the size of the signs.

Another possibility is to make the whole roundabout 30.

Rambo, how fast were you going when the boys in blue decided to have a word in your ear? :)
Patience is not a virtue - it's a concept invented by the dozy beggars who are unable to think quickly enough.

Hee hee. luckily not so far! It seems most people speed along this section often above 40 mph. It really should be 40 mph up until the next roundabout as it isn’t residential in any way. There isnt even a proper pavement for pedestrians further up.

Inconsistent speed limit application is endemic across Warrington. The trick is to just not go to the place...
