Road sign put up in wrong county

Post by Big Nick »

North Lincolnshire or South Yorkshire? Road contractors put up a Welcome to Yorkshire sign outside Sandtoft which is in North Lincolnshire.
It is entirely possible it should have gone up on the other side of the road facing the other way. I'm guessing it was here https://goo.gl/maps/zJZC3g1FmMzHMcKL7

Well, it's an interesting point. Why was loads of land to the west of the Trent and cut off from the rest of Lincolnshire put in Lincolnshire in the first place?

Before Cornelius Vermuyden drained it, The Isle of Axholme was cut-off in all directions.
