Maybe I have a very low threshold for irritation, but I drive past this sign often and it always niggles me that on one half you've got the full 'Leicester', and on the other half 'Le'ster', must be my OCD!

To be fair, the sign is as wide as it can be, and there's nothing factually incorrect on there at all, just niggles me.
Do you have any other signs that are not incorrect at all, but just a touch annoying for whatever reason?

Re: Irritating Signs
Well if the designer had dropped all the bracketed route numbers and then put A453 at the bottom of each stack of destinations, the sign would have been narrower and able to avoid the abbreviation.
Patience is not a virtue - it's a concept invented by the dozy beggars who are unable to think quickly enough.

Re: Irritating Signs
In the example shown, surely Ring road (E) and Ring road (W) would have sufficed with all reference to Leicester / Le'ster removed.
I think Peterborough tends in general to be abbreviated more frequently in this manner than not!
I can picture plenty of Peterboro's, Loughboro's and Mkt. Harboro's, however other towns appear to be shortened in the same way very infrequently (Scarborough, Middlesbrough...)

Here's another close to me that irritates me, this time because of the panel gap:

Re: Irritating Signs
This method of signing ahead destinations is a common nuance of sign design in these parts... sorry, but I think they look awful!

I've seen this done in a few places and I struggle to see how it makes for a more effective sign area.Bfivethousand wrote: ↑Mon Nov 29, 2021 16:27 This method of signing ahead destinations is a common nuance of sign design in these parts... sorry, but I think they look awful!
