I'm not sure what you mean? It's entirely possible on Maps already to generate a link to a particular location on a particular layer.
I guess what Gav is asking for would be a link to each map when you post a list of new additions, for example

I could do, but it's huge amounts of my time when in reality it's hardly challenging to click on "Maps", then the right layer, then move around the map layer as appropriate?

If someone wants to help out and do that, then great, I'll be happy, but as currently everything that happens on Maps is just me, I can spend my available time doing that, or doing scanning, stitching, georeferencing, tiling, updating the annotations, uploading, posting updates here and on the Facebook page, etc etc etc...

If that's a volunteer of time to help out, then it will be gratefully accepted.

It's also worth noting that until we can put some additional development changes in, those permalinks are not permanent and may alter over time.

Due to a technical issue, the planned programming of just out of copyright Half Inch mapping has unfortunately been delayed.

Fortunately, this isn't the BBC, so instead of bringing you a repeat of an old episode of Last of the Summer Wine, we've just brought forward future planned programming in the shape of more One Inch Seventh Series mapping; plus a side order of a couple of really nice OSI One Inch maps.

They are:

1969
Sheet 126 (Norwich) Revision B

1968
OSI Sheet 173 (Killarney) Revision 3-68

1967
Sheet 170 (London SW) Revision B/*
OSI Sheet 187 (Cork) 1967 Revision

1966
Sheet 61 (Falkirk and Lanark) Revision B
Sheet 85 (Durham) Revision B/*
Sheet 189 (Land's End) Revision A/

1965
Sheet 82 (Keswick) Revision B

I really love a lot of these - the Cork sheet is just one of my favourite maps for no good reason other than it looks really good; the Durham sheet has a lovely A1(M) temporary terminus on it; the Keswick sheet includes the only Lake in the Lake District; and the Falkirk and Lanark sheet has the very first stretch of M8 on it. Lots and lots to see and do!

The Cork one is really nice for other reasons too - it shows some of the heavy tram routes that were once present in the city. It also shows the relative importance of the ports at Cobh and Ringaskiddy - the situation is now reversed with the development of Ringaskiddy and the national road going there, while Cobh is only served by the regional route.

Another good selection. The 1969 Norwich map has an early A47 bypass - Honingham under construction. Looked a nasty bend in the village.

Looking over at Teesside, A66 now reaches Stockton, but from Stockton to Middlesbrough remains A67, somewhat detached from the rest of the road west of Darlington; its current route to Yarm still has its old number of B1273. A19 still goes through Stockton, and some of the dualling through Billingham has been done, though you still have to go through Wolviston; however a short section through Sheraton seems to have been dualled. Seal Sands is still unreclaimed mud flats. Scotch Corner is still a flat roundabout at this stage. And Teesside Airport is marked by name but with no detail of buildings or runway alignment, perhaps a legacy of its RAF origins.

Just uploaded are another batch of maps from, mostly from the early 1960s, including a collection of OSNI Third Edition sheets from the same time period. They are:

1966
OSNI Sheet 9 (South Down) Revision 4405 (1966 revision)

1964
Sheet 101 (Manchester) Revision B/*
OSNI Sheet 5 (East Tyrone) Revision 4394
OSNI Sheet 9 (South Down) Revision 4405 (1964 revision)

1963
Sheet 124 (Kings Lynn) Revision B
Sheet 156 (Bristol and Stroud) Revision A///
Sheet 166 (Frome) Revision A/
OSNI Sheet 4 (Omagh) Revision 4349

1962
Sheet 110 (Stoke-on-Trent) Revision B
Sheet 120 (Burton upon Trent) Revision B
OSNI Sheet 2 (Londonderry) Revision 4275
OSNI Sheet 8 (Armagh) Revision 4273

1961
Sheet 83 (Penrith) Revision A//
Sheet 170 (London SW) Revision A//
OSNI Sheet 1 (North Coast) Revision 4274

That lot means we now have every revision ever of the Manchester sheet (101) online; but my favourite thing on this batch is right on the western edge of the 1963 Bristol and Stroud sheet...

Sorry to reply to an ancient post, but having recently been away from SABRE for an extended period, I'm catching up on some old threads. When the 1972 1" map was put up, this discussion happened:

Steven wrote: Sat Apr 27, 2019 23:24The Manchester sheet is always fun, featuring parts of M56 and A5103 with unfinished junctions at either end; a couple of mapping errors showing the M56 Airport Spur as being unclassified as are the slip roads at J4; a mostly built M62/M63/M602 junction; the first section of M66; and something that I can't recall seeing on any other map - "City Centre" marked as a district name.
This sheet is brilliant. What on earth is going on with Princess Parkway here? They've actually marked it as following a B-road for a short distance.
Presumably it's just a temporary layout when connecting the "new" Princess Parkway that we all know and love (?) today to the original version. It is quite a good one though!
It's an error. There was never a layout like that. In fact, if I remember correctly, the A5103 flyover over the B5167 was opened several months or a year before the M56. There was a time during construction when through traffic used the slip roads to/from the B5167, but it never used only the southern ones.

Different revision dates for different kilometre squares?? Or hurried revision giving priority to the motorway??

Another error nearby is the absence of the bridge under the north-south M56 where the eastbound Sharston spur later went under.

I suspect you're probably right - there's at least one more example of a sheet being rushed to get a new motorway on there and completely getting it wrong - Sheet 172 (Chatham and Maidstone) Revision A/* lasted only a few months before being replaced and its depiction of the A20(M) is terrible, with incorrect junction layouts just being one of the problems.

That 1972 Manchester sheet is a revision of the previous rather than a complete, full revision. I suspect that the OS were not expecting to produce that sheet, and so rushed it with all the errors mentioned in that small area - the airport spur and its incorrect colouring being another. At the time, they were pretty much focussed on the first 1:50,000 sheets, but still...

The other giveaway of rushed motorway additions is the lack of cuttings and embankments. I've seen it in 1:25000 Pathfinder mapping too.

It's an error, because the Princess Parkway dualling didn't quite happen like that. There are now dozens of photos of it on Flickr at the Manchester Archives+ account.

What happened is as follows:

* The GSJ at Northenden was built, with the A5103 either side remaining as S4 whilst this happened;
* The connection to the M56 was dualled first, but the temporary flare as shown on the OS never existed, because the flyover was already there;
* Yew Tree Lane was closed and converted to a footbridge in time for the M63 arriving in 1974. The northbound A5103 dropped from D3 to D2 then S4 and slammed into the traffic lights at the time. The dualling north towards the A5145 followed around this time.

Just a slight change of emphasis on Bryn's remarks. I haven't yet checked the photos he mentions and am working from memory.

The A5103/B5167 flyover contract and the M56 Wythenshawe-Bowdon contract overlapped substantially in time. The B5167 and A560 junctions are also very close in space. Every point on the A5103 between the B5167 junction and the A560 junction was included in widening from S4 to D3M or D4 in one or other of the two contracts. The exact location of the boundary between the contracts was probably not clear to drivers at the time. Improvements to the A5103 north of the B5167 junction came later as part of the M63 contract.

Immediately south of Wolviston we have an example of a road that was, in relatively quick succession, dualled online, then (after the time of 1" maps) bypassed on the east by another dual carriageway (grade separated), then bypassed on the west by another grade separated dual carriageway, with the removal of a previous GSJ; and the western bypass is now being widened.

Tonight there has been added a number of One Inch maps from 1958, 1959 and 1960 uploaded to SABRE Maps, plus adding a couple of OSNI maps into the bargain; and bringing the number of Seventh Series sheets where we have copies of every single revision up to 59 with the Buckingham sheet and the Oxford and Newbury sheet being added to the list.

The full list of newly added maps looks like this:

1960
Sheet 110 (Stoke-on-Trent) Revision A//
Sheet 112 (Nottingham) Revision B
Sheet 130 (Kidderminster) Revision A//
Sheet 145 (Banbury) Revision A//
OSNI Sheet 3 (Mid Antrim) Revision 4259

1959
Sheet 103 (Doncaster) Revision A//
Sheet 123 (Spalding) Revision A/
Sheet 131 (Birmingham) Revision A//
Sheet 158 (Oxford and Newbury) Revision A
Sheet 170 (London SW) Revision A//

Yes, a good selection again. Whilst looking at the single carriageway Clifton Bridge, opened in 1958 https://www.sabre-roads.org.uk/wiki/ind ... ottingham), I spotted that only the west part of Clifton Estate is shown (from the 1960 Nottingham sheet). It is then overlapped by the 1960 Melton Mowbray sheet that had not been updated for the Clifton Estate. Nottingham was edition B so a more thorough revision than the A/ Melton Mowbray map. Is it possible for the Nottingham sheet to take precedence?
https://www.sabre-roads.org.uk/maps/ind ... 3&layer=31

A bit of new road building on the 1960 Banbury sheet at https://www.sabre-roads.org.uk/maps/ind ... 3&layer=31 - the top end of Oxford Western Bypass and the first depiction of Peartree Interchange. It opened in November 1961.

From the SABRE Wiki: Clifton Bridge %28Nottingham%29 :

Clifton Bridge is a large bridge crossing the River Trent to the west of Nottingham. It forms part of the Nottingham Outer Ring Road.

The crossing actually comprises two separate bridges. The original bridge, which carried four lanes of traffic, now carries the four southbound lanes, and one northbound lane. The second bridge, built adjacent to the original, carries three northbound lanes and the footpath.

After the Second World War, Nottingham suffered from a severe housing

The next batch of maps are currently being uploaded, with a bonus of two Scottish Popular Edition maps as well. Some of these maps are thanks to Ross Spur and RichardFairhurst, for providing maps for us to all enjoy.

The list as as below, with now Sheets 95 and 130 being added to the collection of maps for which we have every revision ever printed online. We've also at the stage now where we have quite a number of individual sheets where we are only missing one or two revisions, so if people could take a look at the Coverage Project page, and then dig through their map collections for the missing revisions, it would be appreciated by all no doubt.

1957
Sheet 89 (Lancaster and Kendal) Revision A/
Sheet 95 (Blackburn and Burnley) Revision A/
Sheet 130 (Kidderminster) Revision A/
Sheet 132 (Coventry and Rugby) Revision A/
Sheet 147 (Bedford and Luton) Revision A/

1956
Sheet 76 (Carlisle) Revision A
Sheet 120 (Burton-upon-Trent) Revision A/
Sheet 121 (Derby and Leicester) Revision A/
SPE Sheet 51 (Stonehaven and Brechin) Revision A//

1955
SPE Sheet 9 (Cape Wrath) Revision B
