yes, clearly a key period in original A1 improvements in the area.Bryn666 wrote:Ferrybridge looks a bit lonely without any road improvement!Steven wrote:And for today, we have on the 1967 layer, Sheet 97 (York) revision B/*. This one includes LOTS of changes along the A1 from the extant 1960 revision on the Seventh Series layer.

Re: New project for 2018 - OS One Inch 7th Series map coverage
They are:
Sheet 65 (Kintyre) and 66 (Island of Arran), both being Revision A/.
A comparison between those two, and the extant sheets on the "Seventh Series" layer shows that the two on that layer both have differences, and therefore are both Revision A from 1956. This has then updated the layer annotations, and the 1956 stand-alone layer has had these two maps added to it. It also means that we now have copies of every edition of these two sheets, which sounds really impressive until you realise that only two revisions were ever produced!
If you like playing "spot the difference", these two are quite good ones - in both cases they're quite subtle changes.

Sheets 20 (Ullapool), 37 (Kingussie) and 51 (Iona and Colonsay); all Revision A/.
This has also shows that the Sheet 51 on the "Seventh Series" layer is Revision A, so it has been annotated appropriately, and also added to the 1956 layer.

Sheet 42 (Ballater) Revision A/
Sheet 44 (Coll and Tiree) Revision A/
Sheet 79 (Stranraer) Revision B
Sheet 81 (Dalbeattie) Revision B
The first two are another that we now have every revision ever printed online - again because there were only ever two!

152 (Carmarthen and Tenby) Revision C
155 (Bristol and Newport) Revision A///*
164 (Minehead) Revision B
That lot has a couple of highlights for me - for all you Scottish Highlands enthusiasts we now have all revisions of Sheet 21 online. Sheet 102 has a nice bit of M1 under construction north of Sheffield, and Sheet 155 has some lovely half-built motorways around Bristol - a tiny stretch of M5 slamming into a roundabout, a half-open M4/M5 interchange, and the first bit of M32 back when it was just the M4 Hambrook Spur meaning that all M4 traffic basically ended up on an unclassified road...

Yes, the road which is now the A4174 through Hambrook did indeed used to flow into the Bromley Heath Road. It was only when the Ring Road was extended eastwards, the Bromley Heath Roundabout was then created.Truvelo wrote:The Hambrook Spur is interesting as the map suggests what is now the A4174 flows directly onto Bromley Heath Road. I know the A4174 was originally meant to take a closer line into town on its eastern side but I don't think that was the intended route.
Looking at the M4, I was always under the impression it opened from Tormarton right through to the Severn Bridge, but the map shows only from Hambrook.

That's quite a lot there really - more Scottish sheets now have every revision ever online, and there's other interesting bits and bobs around the place, including a tiny amount of A46(M) here
What interesting things does everyone else find?

From the SABRE Wiki: A46(M) :
The motorway spur towards Leicester from M1 junction 21 was originally numbered A46(M). The terminal junction of this motorway was numbered J21A, and was in a different location to the present use of that number. It opened on 22 January 1965 at the same time as the adjacent M1 was opened between Lutterworth and Markfield.
The road lost its motorway status following
