OS Quarter Inch "A" revisions

Post by Steven »

The final two "in pipeline" Quarter Inch maps have now been uploaded; and it's meant a bit of a shuffle around on Maps.

The first addition is the "A" revision of Sheet 16 (Southern England), which was easy as we didn't have any revisions of it!

The other "A" revision addition is Sheet 14 (East Anglia), which is a little trickier, as in error the "A" revision layer had the A/ revision on it from 1965. So, that one has been shifted out of the way to a new 1965 Quarter Inch layer; becoming the first sheet there with the actual A revision going in its place. You can see the differences quite easily in places, such as the A1 Alconbury Bypass.

Finally, the Solway Firth sheet that was on the OS Quarter Inch "A" revision layer has been moved out of the way (as it's actually the B revision) to its own 1963 layer.

In short, two maps have moved off the "QI 5th Series Revision A" layer to where they really should be, and two new ones have gone on.

I hope that's clear enough!

Not a vast amount has happened to the Quarter Inch layers this year with the concentration on getting One Inch coverage added, but at the last minute we have an addition, thanks to Owen B.

It's the A revision of Sheet 9, North East England, from 1960. As it's the first revision of this particular map, it's gone on the QI 5th Series Revision A layer.

We're now only missing Sheet 8 (Solway Firth) from having complete coverage of all the A revisions, so if anyone has a copy of this map, I'd appreciate a volunteering of map scans!
