1933 Ten Mile Road Map of Great Britain

Post by Steven » Wed Oct 31, 2018 15:10

This one came in from Fosseway a while back, but it's proved incredibly tricky to stitch and georeference.

Finally it's in a state where we can put it online - again it's one of those really rare mid-1930s Ten Mile Road Maps, so the condition isn't ideal, with some tearing around the fold lines, but it's still quite a lovely thing.

It really fills in the gap between the 1932 and 1934 editions that we've had available for some time now, and allows us to really pin down some of those short-lived 1930s roads, and also combined with others shows us things like the A5103 in Manchester was created in April 1934 (not 1933).

Enjoy the detective work!

Thanks both, well, we've got the North Orbital still under construction south of St Albans, before it appears as open on the 1934 map... Spotting the differences between the 1933 and 1932 map is trickier though....

I've spotted that the B5411 north of Preston is erroneously listed as the B6411 on the 1932 and 1933 editions, before being corrected on the 1934 map!
