Anyway, back and all seems complete for now. Did the whole circle again. Times: Siam mall to the end of the new section at Santiago: 15 mins. D2, then S2+1 except for the tunnel which was D2. Mountain section: 20-25 mins. Decent surface, but slow, 30-40, sometimes a lot less. Repair works were on going. TF-5 starts just after El Tanque. Again S2+1 including through a tunnel which is about 1500m long. On the S2+1 sections, the 1 lane has a solid white line for most of it, so speeds can be low, 45-50 mph. Due to low clouds, the mountain/twisty section was also thick in fog/mist and was a bit of a slog.

Total drive time from Siam Mall to Puerto De la Cruz: about 50 mins.

Other question: How can a hire car have a mileage total of 125,000kms, given the size of the island. Unknown of the age of the car, a Seat Leon, but it did have manual wing mirror adjustments!!!
