[F] Roads around Disneyland Paris

Post by Bryn666 »

Some interesting developments to the highways around the Disney resort now it's passed its 25th anniversary.

First off, A4 Junction 14 at Bailly; this junction has always been unfinished; it currently serves as the access to Disneyland Resort Paris but has always been laid out to allow a road to the south of the A4. As part of the Village Nature expansion of the Ranch Davy Crockett site (itself never directly accessible from the resort, and actually further away from the park itself than some of the surrounding independent hotels), there is now to be direct access to the expressway into the Disney resort proper. It is partially open as GSV shows. However, there is a lot of controversy as a proposed link between here and the N36 seems to be dead, meaning that you will still have to pass through Bailly-Romainvillers to make this movement - apparently 21k vehicles a day do this!

If you can read French some background is here: https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/rou ... 1127201301

The real issue is of course if the N36 link is built you will be able to bypass the Coutrevault toll booth...

Another link I noticed is that the D5 from Esbly now leads directly to the resort; previously you had to use a single carriageway trumpet GSJ, join the former N34 (now D934) and then enter the resort further west on the ring road. This has been fixed, sadly though the trumpet has been removed and replaced with a simple roundabout. Such is progress.

It looks as though you could already use the D406 to shunpike.

You can, there are 21k vehicles a day apparently using that length hence why the villagers in Bailly want the bypass. The stopping block seems to be SANEF who will lose a fortune on toll revenue - the A4 is open toll at this point so shunpiking is worthwhile.

To my mind, the best solution would be to remove the mainline toll here (but that means the DIR IDF taking over the section no longer granted to a concession) and relocate it to the east of the A140 exit, as there is a huge local campaign for the route between Paris and Meaux to be free.

If you look carefully at the field to the east of the new link road, you can see the route that the link to the N36 would take. Or, at least, that is what I think it is. It's a bit easier to see if you zoom out.

That does look remarkably like a road alignment doesn't it!
