Blue Square Signs on Spanish Roads
I'm currently watching la Veulta and regularly see blue square signs along the side of roads saying either 40, 50 or 60. What do they represent as there are speed limit signs.
My assumption is they are distance markers saying how many metres there are to a bend etc similar to our yardage markers, but if anyone knows I would be interested to know.

Bryn tank you for the quick reply. A maximum advisory speed that's a new one. I suppose if you have an accident and are found to be going faster than the advisory limit, it could put you in a bit of stick with the insurance company, although when I've been to spain and the number of dents in cars, I have started to believe that insurance is an optional extraBryn666 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 04, 2018 13:31Maximum advisory speedA303Chris wrote: ↑Tue Sep 04, 2018 13:29 I'm currently watching la Veulta and regularly see blue square signs along the side of roads saying either 40, 50 or 60. Functionally they are identical to our "Max Speed 50" signs used with warning signs.A303Chris wrote: ↑Tue Sep 04, 2018 13:36Bryn tank you for the quick reply. I've never once seen them in France as I always thought they preferred mandatory speed limits at hazards. Yet this sign has been around since the 80s. Is it a Departmental thing?Rob_A1010 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 15, 2018 20:06Yes, French road sign reference C4a ex2, as per this web pageNorfolktolancashire wrote: ↑Mon Oct 15, 2018 19:45 Is it like this one in Spain?

Could be, I've only ever seen them in the Pyrénées-Orientales and the Aude.
