An oldish A road sign. It's even had a new wall built underneath it in the last few years.

And Macclesfield is reached by the A50 / A537 not the A50 / A573

Well spotted! I'm surprised it hasn't been patched as it has been there a while..

When you get excited https://www.google.com/maps/@53.2904758 ... 312!8i6656 and then realise it is an old GSV image and it has been replaced !

A few weeks ago i went for a drive around the west Cheshire region to relieve some boredom on a wet sunday afternoon and came across many blue bordered mini signs and finger posts. A few like this one had 'fell over' or more likely knocked by a hedge cutter so a few were burried in the undergrowth. I like a classic pre worboys finger post but i find these modern but obsolete versions interesting. They have a 1970's / 80's feel about them. and the area is a bit of a mecca for them.

Thought you'd like this one complete with patches. :o
Going back to this one i posted a few months ago. It is located near four lane ends where the A49 / A51 spilts off at Tarporley. Now the Tarporley bypass which starts a little further along was only built in 1986 so i guess this sign would pre date this hence it being patched a few times.

Lindale, Grange over Sands. Possibly dating from when the A590 bypassed the village in the 1970's. There are a few classics just at the top of the road too.

I reckon the third Cod War was at its height & the Wurzels were regularly in the charts when these were installed.

Went past this one several times last week in St. Ives. Blue bordered so clearly old and since the street view shot, someone has been over the "z" and the "1" with what looks like a felt tip pen.

Good spot! I hadn't noticed that. I noticed better display of gigantism on the M62 at Goole but it's not on GSV yet so sadly I can't provide a demonstration.

Edit: it has been pictured elsewhere by somebody familiar though. Enjoy!

The streetlighting department there won't touch signs, or make decisions about them, so signs that no longer require a signlight are lit, and using blatantly unfit for purpose plates.

i noticed rolling back GSV that the junction sign was underneath the narrowing lanes with an older lamp on top.

It would be difficult to find one worse than this. Which exit do you want? No idea!
