Spotted this relic this morning, in beautiful original green:

Probably dates from when the road opened?

Cheers

You have to wonder why they felt the need to abbreviate Loughborough?

It seems to be on virtually every sign regardless of size.

Good find. there must be a few of these still knocking around on these rural back roads.

Thanks, Rambo, it was quite unexpected and I smiled when I saw it. I'll hopefully be venturing further afield to mid-Wales and the like over the next few weeks so I'll keep my eyes peeled and post any finds here.

My first thought was "Why is 'A1' aligned to the right?" before I saw the rest of the numbers! :-P

...and another with a thin dark-blue border. This is properly manky with, curiously, the 'd' patched on both sides

Continuing the west Yorkshire theme. A very over sized sign facing the entrance to the Yorkshire Mining museum along the A642.

I spotted these two while walking around Accrington the other day. Shame the one way sign is missing the sign face, otherwise it'd be a nice retro example of an internally illuminated sign.

That free car park sign looks like it used to have a thick blue border.

A couple of north Merseyside captures.
