1977/8 speed limit orders

Post by c2R »

Not sure why, but the following two pieces of legislation have popped up on my new legislation RSS feed, despite being far from new:

https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukmo/1977/1 - The 70 miles per hour, 60 miles per hour and 50 miles per hour (Temporary Speed Limit) Order 1977
https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukmo/1978/1 - The 70 miles per hour, 60 miles per hour and 50 miles per hour (Temporary Speed Limit) (Variation) Order 1978

This was a response to the threat by Opec to cut oil exports and the balance of payments crisis.

The DfT requested copies of the orders as part of the A47 Blofield DCO process, and NH provided them. Here is the relevant correspondence:

https://infrastructure.planninginspecto ... ay2022.pdf
https://infrastructure.planninginspecto ... C%20PP.pdf

The DCO was granted today, which will be why it popped up now (which is not to say that it should have done).

Thank you. It's useful that they did pop up, as I've been able to add them to the wiki, obviously; but in all the years I've been monitoring what's coming and going in terms of legislation, I've never seen it do that before....
