Re: Botched Roadsigns
A perfectly acceptable sign with what is, presumably, a local's amendment to stop tourists panicking and taking the narrow track.

Re: Botched Roadsigns
This thread has proved there's always more incompetence to be found on British road signs. Sometimes I wonder if anyone except Bryn knows what they're doing. Some sort of description for the football would be good too.ellandback wrote: ↑Tue Jun 21, 2022 17:21 But always room for more, right?
(Should probably go and post the same image on Manky Signs now - two birds one stone and all that).

I can only assume that the left lane and the right lane both do very different things once they're round that corner.Nathan_A_RF wrote: ↑Wed Jun 22, 2022 23:05 Spot the issue here

That one's comedy gold, it appears to be a simple 'they put the signs up on the wrong side of the post' error. Not so good when it's foggy and pitch black.Nathan_A_RF wrote: ↑Wed Jun 22, 2022 23:05 Spot the issue here

no, i think it's a wrong sign. The other side doesn't have any gradient, and the signs at the top going the other way are differentBryn666 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 23, 2022 10:39That one's comedy gold, it appears to be a simple 'they put the signs up on the wrong side of the post' error. Same location. Not necessarily botched but I've got £5 says it's never been authorised, which would make it a botch.Nathan_A_RF wrote: ↑Wed Jun 22, 2022 23:05 Spot the issue here

I don't think that would invalidate any prosecutions obtained by that means though, would it?Conekicker wrote: ↑Fri Jun 24, 2022 08:07Same location. Surely it's also positioned far too low for its intended audience?!Conekicker wrote: ↑Fri Jun 24, 2022 08:07Same location. Not necessarily botched but I've got £5 says it's never been authorised, which would make it a botch.Nathan_A_RF wrote: ↑Wed Jun 22, 2022 23:05 Spot the issue here

Re: Botched Roadsigns
There's an index of sorts at the end of the M606, though even that only refers to "football ground". I guess they must have got fed up of Valley Parade continually changing its name. (Also, you probably wouldn't be taking that slip road anyway for Valley Parade - you'd have used the j3 underpass for Ring Road East, where there is no similar sign).the cheesecake man wrote: ↑Wed Jun 22, 2022 22:19 Some sort of description for the football would be good too.
At this location we are actually much closer to Bradford Park Avenue than to Bradford City so, since they are now only two divisions apart, I might take umbrage at this reference to "football ground" if I was a fan of the former!

Re: Botched Roadsigns
Initially thought this blue bordered sign may have been patched when the toilets were replaced with a cafe but Streetview shows it first appeared between 2011 and 2016.

Re: Botched Roadsigns
Look at something from another thread, I found this.
Is reusing surplus signs and recovering them a common practice?

Drive the right way up a dual carriageway to get to Glasgow and the wrong way to get to Skinflats?Conekicker wrote: ↑Mon Jun 27, 2022 11:34 Close but no teddy bear.

Nope, although the junction slip positions are rather odd.jnty wrote: ↑Mon Jun 27, 2022 12:24Drive the right way up a dual carriageway to get to Glasgow and the wrong way to get to Skinflats?Conekicker wrote: ↑Mon Jun 27, 2022 11:34 Close but no teddy bear.

Re: Botched Roadsigns
The top one, close but not a Diagram 877.
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.83554 ... 8192?hl=en
1) That's not Motorway font and
2) Cut out?
3) The bit between the two teardrops isn't a dual carriageway.
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.80182 ... 8192?hl=en
The mounting height is a bit iffy as well.

I'm not sure why Monsal Dale needed to be changed to Monsal Head but there's no need to shout about it.

Re: Botched Roadsigns
I'm not qualified to comment on the standard but following this comment I've been paying more attention to this interesting detail and it does seem to vary depending on which way the lorry would be going.SteelCamel wrote: ↑Tue Jun 21, 2022 16:33 Yes, that's true. I'd never noticed it, but the standard symbol does have the truck going left. And now I think of it, vehicles on signs are usually going left (if they're not front-on). Though I suppose for a road to the right it might make sense to paint a right-going truck, it's definitely non-standard.
Here the weight limit is on the road to the left so the lorry is facing left. Approach from the other direction and the lorry is facing right.
Same here.
And it's not just a Sheffield City Council oddity because here's Leeds City Council doing the same.
