Plenty of Japanese-style signals too; at least in Kampala...

Sadly, given the part of the world they're in, these lights are guaranteed to be operating in fixed-time mode.

There are Heimdall radars on the mast arm on that photo that OliverH posted, so perhaps not in that case.WhiteBlueRed wrote: ↑Tue Jul 26, 2022 04:00 Sadly, given the part of the world they're in, these lights are guaranteed to be operating in fixed-time mode.
Interestingly, it looks as though the 'Euro' type Siemens heads have been used on the mast-arm as well.

Which countries use the same signal heads as the UK? I know Cyprus does as well as Ireland (Republic)
Re: Seimens Helios in Uganda
that was the old style with ped phases. They have now been rolling on signals with push buttons like the UK. from the link in the first post, it seems that the signals not on the arm are Helios where as the ones that can be more clearly seen on the mast are euro.Gareth wrote: ↑Mon Jul 25, 2022 22:32 Plenty of Japanese-style signals too; at least in Kampala...

Bahrain uses the Helios as well, and I believe there were some installed in South Africa though I think the Euro-type Siemens head ended up being used in the long run. I don't think the Elite has seen all that much use overseas either, I can only think of Overseas Territories that have used those, Bermuda and Gibraltar coming to mind straight away.Skipsy wrote: ↑Tue Jul 26, 2022 17:25 Which countries use the same signal heads as the UK? I think it was more common for SGE/Tin heads and Mellors to be seen overseas, particularly in countries with influences (including legacy equipment) from their colonial past, but that seems to have not really carried over to the current signal ranges in quite the same way, which is perhaps to be expected.
I think you'll find there are far more places using export versions of the ST900 and ST950 controllers than there are places using Helios heads, or Elites for that matter.
