Fosdyke Bridge A17

Post by doebag »

I’ve searched the forum, wiki and google but I can’t find a date for the opening of the current bridge.
I was a regular user of the A17 in the mid ‘80s when it was still the S1 lift bridge, then by the time I moved to the area in the mid ‘90s the new bridge was in place.

Yes, it opened for single lane operation on 23 February 1990 and two way running was reported by the newspaper of 11 May 1990.
Contractor was Christiani and Neilson, cost £2.75 million. Detail per the Spalding Guardian via British News Archive.
