America just loves a spontaneos Interstate, but this is how you know an Interstate has ended, when you get a nice At-Grade junction...

The eastern end of I-565 here in Huntsville is similar, though it is signed with just an End I-565 shield:

And then an End Controlled Access Highway a bit further up:

There used to be an I-565 shield on the westbound side marking the start of the interstate for westbound traffic, though that disappeared a good few years ago when that side got widened and ALDOT has never bothered to replace it.
The western end of I-565 has a bit more fanfare though, as the End I-565 shield and "end controlled access highway" signs are combined into one larger sign:

And of course, the one on the other side for eastbound traffic, marking the start of I-565:

Believe both of those signs are original to I-565 being built, as they're non-reflective with demountable reflective copy (and shields) on them and look quite aged.
The freeway section of Memorial Parkway ends with very little fanfare though.

Research Park Boulevard (AL 255)'s southern end is also similarly undramatic, only a 0 milepost just south of the interchange with I-565:

This used to lead right up to
Redstone Arsenal's main entrance though, and still technically does, though Gate 9 is a good bit further south along Rideout Road now. The beacons above those speed limit signs have long been abandoned in place.

I usually see a yellow "Freeway Ends" or "Expressway Ends" sign.
Don't think I've seen those here in Alabama, so it may be a regional thing. Believe the closest we have is this ALL TRAFFIC MUST EXIT 3/4 MILE sign a bit before the north end of Research Park Boulevard (AL 255)'s freeway:

There was also these yellow Controlled Access Ends 1/2 Mile signs at the west end of I-565, but they've since disappeared and, last I saw, ALDOT still had yet to replace them:

Probably busy documenting grade crossings in the southeastern United States.
