Weird 8 tonne restriction for a canal bridge. Wrong font too. Why didn't they use a more common 7.5 tonne restriction like the other bridges?

Re: Botched Roadsigns
That's signing restrictions which start ahead, not at that point; so it's an information sign, not a regulatory sign. It's basically a variation on diagram 818.4.tom66 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 21, 2022 16:45 Is this a bodge? The A14 is not a motorway, so the sign should not be blue, as it is depicting restrictions and not information.

It should be grey, like this one:

Or is it blue because it's adjacent to the M11 onslip, even if it refers to the A14 and there's no way to get onto the A14 once you've joined that slip?

Both signs needed to be specifically authorised:Glen wrote: ↑Sun Aug 14, 2022 21:36That's signing restrictions which start ahead, not at that point; so it's an information sign, not a regulatory sign. Not primary, this one the kerning is off and M1 isn't in brackets, wrong chevrons, Multiple destinations blanked out, and Cardington Road doesn't even have an ADS.

Re: Botched Roadsigns
I'm pretty sure that's the wrong sign full stop. No goods vehicles over 8 tonnes, but heavy coaches are allowed? I think it should be one of the other weight limit signs. Also a width limit wouldn't be a bad idea given how narrow the bridge is.tom66 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 14, 2022 18:59 https://www.google.com/maps/@53.5199126 ... 384!8i8192

Re: Botched Roadsigns
Bloody hell, that's the worst we've had in a while. All in Arial, including the 30 signs, which brings the limit into question.
I'm fairly sure if I was that bad at my job, it wouldn't be my job any more.

I spotted this on Street View whilst looking for something else. I'm now wondering if it's still there....

Re: Botched Roadsigns
Wrong sign. Is a sign even needed there, given the good visibility?

Re: Botched Roadsigns
As I'm sure you are aware, it's an attempt to make the assembly stand out more. The better - and DfT preferred way of doing it - is simply to make the thing bigger. But that's waaaaaay to simple, so it's Bodgers R' Us time.

If you're going to get it wrong, at least try to be consistent:

Leaving aside "The North" error, these days, that's possibly acceptable.Nathan_A_RF wrote: ↑Thu Aug 18, 2022 22:45 Then there's this thing also at the north on-ramp

Horrible but possibly acceptable.

Re: Botched Roadsigns
I spotted this sign the other day. Turning left from the B5035 onto the B5036 I would expect to climb a 12% hill as indicated by the sign.

However, if you do turn left, one of the first things you are presented with is this, and yes, the road actually goes downhill.
