More good news! The pw signs in Linslade, Beds. have been restored. It was done by the funeral directors on whose building they are placed. :-D Here are the before-and-after shots, the first from Sept 2019, and the new ones from Feb 2022.

They may be unusual but I'd say this pair in Essex qualify.

On Sunday on ITV there started a TV series version of The Ipcress File. I found myself checking the road signage in the background to ensure it was period correct. :)

It all was. And the series itself it very watchable.

These were posted a long time ago, but it may be that the link has been lost, so here are the signs in all their glory, and well done to those in Dulverton, Somerset, for looking after them.

The font on two of the Dulverton signs seems to be slightly different to the usual pw font, I wonder whether this was a local speciality since these two near Minehead feature similar font.

Finally, for now, I'm not sure whether this counts, but I felt I should post it as it gives such important information should you visit Newbury. (note also the George Rex postbox!)

RAC sign for on-street parking in Mill Street, Ludlow, attached to a council building here. I'm not at all sure how old this one would be.

The Newbury sign definitely counts, it's just older than the standardised ones. The RAC one may well be pre-war, and the first round one I've seen.

Just seen this on Google Maps, hoping it continues to remain.

Looks like the undergrowth was chopped away back where my long-departed nan used to live - revealing the mostly-hidden PW sign I remember seeing in the 90s.

EDIT: Photo removed as a much better one has been posted! I'm glad it was still there... amazing how it's clung on for so long.

Not sure if this one that I stumbled across last week has been mentioned on here before (there's far too many posts to trawl though now). To be honest, I was surprised to find myself in the location to stumble across it in the first place, but I'm glad I did!

This is near Greenhithe in Kent.

That's quite unusual, I don't think I have seen 'London Road' (or similar) as a destination on a PW sign before?

An old sign that has been long-obsolete, together with a modern sign that's only just become obsolete:
