That entire length of A90 is a classic example of "unloved infrastructure". It's a complete mess.

Re: Manky Signs
I sometimes wonder if there was a sort of assumption some more of it might have ended up trunked as a result of the replacement crossing works and that hasn't happened?
Conversely it's the only high speed dual carriageway the council looks after so maybe that's just what an Edinburgh dual carriageway looks like. And they had to pay for Burnshot bridge to be replaced the other year.

Re: Manky Signs
This one has seen better days.
This sign at Fenstanton has a patched-over A604, meaning it's survived two renumberings. The signs all around the former A14 are a mess, with some just having the A14 blanked out with nothing, and others being patched but retaining the green primary colour.

Re: Manky Signs
Good to see these. And the others that you have posted. I’ve not captured any manky signs for a while now, probably due to a number of factors but i struck gold today in a small village in North Yorkshire. So there will be some treats tomorrow after i’ve sorted the pics out.Kevin Roads wrote: ↑Sat Jul 02, 2022 13:14 One that I posted quite a while ago as a Streetview link but have managed to take a photo, showing it's still there in all its manky gloriousness:

Manky blue borders round Lockton and Levisham. The forest drive' blanked out on the sign is now gated off and is a forestry comission road only.
Re: Manky Signs
Then a host of obsolete warning signs including a double bend sign and four gradient signs in old money.

Re: Manky Signs
The first of those is the "series of bends" sign rather than "double bend". This should never have been discontinued, it conveys a distinct message from the "double bend" sign that is now used in its place.

All good ones, Rambo, I especially like the Pickering and Whitby blue-border.
There seems to be a high number of these old and obsolete signs in Yorkshire, as well all the pre-Worboys that have been posted on here.

Managed to get out and bag a few more.
A lot of these School signs seem to be in a state to qualify for this thread:

Re: Manky Signs
This is the second of these that I've recently found. As Bryn explained about the last one I posted, they are a precursor to the current 'Lorry in a circle" no HGV sign, which means that this could be around 50 years old. Interestingly, this one has 'tonnes' whereas my last example has 'tons'.

This is the joint-best find of the day.
I was completely surprised to see it as it's on a busy main A road that has modern signs all along it. There's even a current-style crossroads sign a few metres ahead for the same junction.

Re: Manky Signs
The other best find, again a complete - but pleasant - surprise. This is only the second one of these that I've seen.
Re: Manky Signs
Bolton used to be full of old mank, but it's being replaced in many areas.
